1 INT - INTRODUCTION - PTC. 1

PRESENTER
As with any murder, we can never
truly understand every single
Si
detail that occurred leading up to
the moment of a victim’s death. We
can only piece together the
tangible evidence left behind,
gather witness statements and
corroborate the stories of people
gn
left to tell the tale.

PRESENTER
In today’s video, I’m going to
explore the Bianca Devins case, to
reveal essential points that
commentators have missed or failed
to disclose.

Graphic title: ‘Childhood’s End, The Case of Bianca Devins.’

nt
PRESENTER
The story of Bianca Devins lowers
the spirit from the start. It’s
hard to convey any optimism or
uplift about all the events
surrounding her death.

Bianca was a teenager from Utica,

VO
New York, stabbed to death on July
14, 2019 by Brandon Andrew Clark.
Only allegedly because the trial is
on-going.

The murder happened immediately

after both had attended a Nicole
Dollanganger concert, an aspect
ID

that I will touch upon later.

That evening, Bianca had kissed

another young man in their company,
firing up a latent anger within her
host, Brandon Clark. The stolen
kiss was cited as an apparent
motivation behind his attack.

PRESENTER (CONT'D)

Disturbingly, he contacted 911 and

Bianca’s family moments after his
grisly act, also posting images of
her body. Almost as an
Si
afterthought, he tried to kill
himself as Police vehicles closed
in.

4 IMAGES OF BRANDON CLARK IN POLICE CUSTODY 4

gn
PRESENTER
He failed and is currently standing
trial for second-degree murder.

There are some people, myself

included, who are dissatisfied with
ifi
the commentaries surrounding her
death. Not least the gloating over
an image of a dead teenager. I can
only imagine that people who absorb
these things are living a sort of
double frame of mind. Anyway. I’d
ca
like to start in this way.

As a first step, we should remind

ourselves of what life is like as a
teenager.
nt
We’ve all woken up in our teenage
years feeling like death. The age
itself is a dance with the idea of
it. Taking risks intensifies the
hormones in drug like doses.

You surely remember those erratic,

emotional feelings? That dread, the
VO
sense that the whole cave of your
chest has been hollowed out and
filled with the concrete of
despair.

Remember it, because it’s the only

way you will understand this story
and the life and death of Bianca
ID

Devins.

Bianca’s heart was beating either

too much or too little and the only
transportation for her was to jump
onto increasingly familiar social
media platforms.

2.
PRESENTER (CONT'D)
From a young age, meeting virtual
friends, eventually sparring with
young men or women, to sharpen her
wit in the ‘game.’
Si
It was safe and harmless fun up
until that point – at least until
she engaged in a long
conversational string with Brandon
Clark.
gn
Teenage pain is not palpable on the
internet. You can’t see the primary
source of the pain and I guess
that’s the point of it, but we all
know that teenage angst exists to
greater or lesser degrees. Bianca
was on the furthest edge of that
ifi
spectrum as a young woman with an
anxiety compounded by a form of
hypomania.

So any detection is impossible, but

when people move from the virtual
ca
space to the public – that’s when
the problems begin. Certainly in
the case of a young woman like
Bianca Devins and a young man like
Brandon Clark.
nt
Relationships are less ‘gutsy’ in
reality than they are on the
Internet, a place where illicitness
magnifies the promise of things to
come.

Compared to reality, the Internet

is a kind of virtual groping. Quite
VO
dirty stuff really, as it often is.
Out in the open, face to face and
all of a sudden, jealousy can rage
untethered, extreme emotions break
the dam that’s holding them back.

Death here is never a subject or

shouldn’t be. We can embarrass
ID

ourselves in every way possible on

the Internet, pretend we are
something we are not, and even
threaten to wish our own deaths but
back here on ‘Earth One’, all
teenagers wish to be a ‘finalist’
and reach a ripe old age, Keith
Richards style.

3.
PRESENTER (CONT'D)

Even if Millennials don’t know who

he is, you take my point.

Stilted, room-temperature discourse

Si
about what really happened on the
evening of the murder abounds. The
case has been reduced to basic
newspeak that at least contains
only a few important points.
gn
Judging from their benign
correspondence on 4Chan, the
relationship between Bianca and
Brandon was within the threshold
for their ages, if you also account
for the fact that he was four years
older.
ifi
What it did have as far as
distinctions go, is that their
correspondence was consistent, with
a chat that started on Instagram,
then moving across to several other
ca
platforms. It’s a fact which
probably ignited Brandon’s hope
which is also on the record, that
he “expected something more” from
her, after so many interchanges.
nt
It also accounts for comments that
have been levelled against him
about being an obsessive male. It
meant that in his own mind at
least, he had a greater distance to
fall because he had invested so
much in the virtual relationship.
VO
Why are teens consistent sometimes
and then brutally cruel? It’s not a
trick question because of course,
the idea of ‘dumping’ is a very
teen phenomenon. Let’s look a
little closer at Bianca.

‘Bianca Michelle Devins (October 2, 2001 – July 14, 2019)

4.
PRESENTER
It is clear that young women
subject themselves to many
humiliations and discomforts in
their long journey to identify
Si
suitable partners. No niggling laws
are broken by simply jousting with
the opposite sex – a game as old as
the hills. It’s the stuff of life.
Especially when you’re a teen.
gn
In the great turbine of the teenage
girl’s mind, attention is
everything and arguably more so in
Bianca as she was deeply committed
to several spirited online
communities like Instagram, 4Chan
and Border, all with varying
ifi
degrees of reputation as hot spots
for this and that. It’s almost like
she wrote for all the newspapers.

However, she only filled small

cracks. She wasn’t there for music
ca
or political confrontations. She
was, simply an attention seeking
teen and playing with boys was her
game of choice, trying to be
someone’s ‘Cat or E-Girl’ with self
admitted mental health issues.
nt
So far, so normal. She is the
hallmark of the millennium
generation.

Bianca was highly sociable in this

way but with an unpredictable brand
of sexuality and temper, a singular
VO
character on these spaces for sure,
but basically in every one of her
guises she was a pretty, self
styled, manga-loving princess in
the tower who had managed to
enrapture many young male minds who
‘orbited’ her. If anything, she
proved the gullibility of young men
ID

who fell for her ‘field of dreams’

approach.

6 SCREEN GRAB OF OXY PROFILE 6

Close aspect of her profile and dialogue as ‘Oxy’ with the

quoted lines highlighted.

5.
PRESENTER
As she wrote under her ‘Oxy’
profile, “I just want to love
everyone and be loved by everyone.”
Si
In NYC it is illegal to ride your
bike with your feet off the pedals,
but when you’re a teen, living in a
suburb or county seat, you can’t
even get away with the cheap joy of
breaking that law. The Internet is
gn
your only place for natural teenage
misdemeanors.

At the time of her death, Bianca

was on a course of self-improvement
and according to her teachers, her
therapy sessions were working. She
ifi
had started at the bottom of a big
mountain, diagnosed with
depression, anxiety and a mild form
of bi-polarism. She committed
fitfully to all the treatments
available in an attempt to bring
ca
herself some calm.

These disorders were however, an

ideal emotional cocktail - if you
wished to becomes the beau ideal of
platforms like ‘Border’ and
nt
‘4Chan.’ And of course young women
felt she was writing for them too.
Her friend Mae Scialdone was a
fierce and loyal friend who defends
Bianca whenever a camera seeks to
tell her story.

6.
8 PRESENTER PTC 8

PRESENTER
Young men on these platforms often
felt they possessed Bianca and
Si
lived in denial about the social
nature of the platform, viewing
every interaction as a closed
relationship between just two
people. Her murderer Brandon Clark,
certainly thought so.
gn
And consistent with this male blind
spot, men also assumed that they
knew her. So far quite normal. So
on the evening when Bianca and
Brandon met for the Dollanganger
concert, she was in her mind
ifi
grateful for having a night out and
being away from a household full of
infant siblings.

He on the other hand, felt like he

nt
movie star. In case anyone doubted,
her model shots, which she peppered
her admirers with, would prove his
point. Some have been too quick to
shout ‘prostitute’ when what we are
seeing is just atypical boy versus
girl ‘game in play.’

PRESENTER (CONT'D)
Hundreds may have lived on the
virtual fringes of her life,
numbers don’t really matter here,
but she had only a few friends in
her inner circle.
Si
She wasn’t an internet sensation,
as has been reported, hardly a
qualification in itself, but it
should be noted with smaller
numbers you tend to be more
gn
intimate and with bigger numbers,
you are really suggesting that you
prefer distance.

11 PRESENTER PTC 11
ifi
PRESENTER
Bianca had a short life arc but her
fate was elevated by the cruelty of
having her murdered body cascaded
across several social media
platforms that were slow both to

respond and to apologize.

12 YOU TUBE INTERVIEW CLIP WITH KIM DEVINS 12

Short clip segement to match the point.

nt
KIM DEVINS
You know I’ve never had a
straightforward apology, I’ve dealt
with a lot of people from FaceBook

what they did. Everything was taken
down and taken care of by the
VO
fifteenth. It’s not true.

Bianca is largely remembered

She could have gone in any
direction.

9.
PRESENTER (CONT'D)
The point is, she was a teenage
girl who listened to the music of
Nicole Dollangagner and it’s hard

was often just re-voicing the
Si
lyrics of her favorite role model
artist.

17 SCREEN GRAB OF NICOLE DOLLANGENGER 17

gn

PRESENTER
A feint that gained Nicole
Dollanganger plenty of attention,
why shouldn’t it get her attention
too?
ifi
18 PRESENTER PTC 18

PRESENTER
Bianca was the first of a clutch of
ca
children in her family and with
only a single mother in attendance,
became isolated, retreating to her
room and becoming brittle in her
solitude.
nt
Internet encounters can be
exhausting and regular users will
always tilt away from some people
to others. If nothing else, to
relieve the boredom. There’s an
inherent cruelty in this but not
surprising.
VO
Commentators about Bianca’s state
of mind point to her toxicity as a
kind of ‘worm in the bud’ and the
incidence of selling nude photos
through her social media channels.

Bianca was fifteen when this first

started happening. She dumped men
ID

on the Internet and traded

sporadically in this way but of
course, this happens in the real
world as well - with equal cruelty.

10.
19 SCREEN GRABS FROM INTERNET POSTS 19

Screen grab of a conversation string with a stranger who is

effectively dumped by Bianca, with the line “I don’t care
what you think of me,” highlighted.
Si
PRESENTER
There is a second pointed finger
here which extends this further, in
the idea of personal gain. That
there was an element of
gn
prostitution on Bianca’s part, as
she would trade her nude images for
material gains like drugs that men
like Brandon would readily offer.

I think the world calls this

‘bartering’ so there’s a new
ifi
reflection here emerging of someone
who was also hustling. The whole of
human life and interaction is based
on some kind of hustle and I remark
on this because she was
precociously young to be engaging
ca
in such activities.

She was in short, smarter than her

punters.

At best, her relationship with

nt
Brandon was immature. The point
surely is that he missed the
shorthand signals of her physical
disinterest in him. It seems clear
they were never lovers, let alone
in any kind of deeper relationship
commitment.
VO

20 SCREEN GRABS FROM RESEARCH FILE 20

Aspects from file: ‘Inaccurate correspondence that cites

Brandon as the Boyfriend.’

PRESENTER
On the fateful night of the live
ID

event, his spying of the illicit

kiss in his car clearly set off a
bomb in Brandon’s head.

Bar wearing a badge that read, ‘I’m

not interested in you in that way,’
she couldn’t have made the message
any clearer.

11.
21 PRESENTER PTC 21

PRESENTER
He was immature, and the fact that
he failed to translate the signal
Si
into an ‘Oh well!’ is a mark
against him, rather than a
downgrade of Bianca’s actions being
a kind of low level prostitution.

As a young man and a young woman in

gn
the middle of ‘the game,’ you can
develop a sense of elitism about
the uniqueness of your personal
worth.

It’s what drives older people crazy

when they see that attitude in the
ifi
young. Elders look embarrassed even
and might whisper to no one in
particular, ‘God, I can’t believe
that I was like that!’
ca
22 INT - COURT IMAGERY 22

Aspects of Brandon Clarke shackled in court.

PRESENTER
Overall, the story is a miserable
nt
one. Brandon is now an on-going
poster boy for male violence and
misogyny. Bianca is posthumously
having her own daemons aired by the
press. Her father is conspicuously
absent here, not even raising a
protective arm around her memory.
VO
In fact, whilst we’re on the
subject, the personality of
Bianca’s father has yet to be
established. That’s key because he
is the dark malevolence that lies
at the centre of this story.

Bianca’s correspondence with

ID

Brandon and other similar young

men, is couched in eerie and
deliberately unhinged terms,
invitations to ‘revel with me’ in
the dark side of life.

12.
23 SCREEN GRABS FROM RESEARCH FILE 23

Aspects of Bianca Devins’s art portfolio.

PRESENTER
Si
However, that needle moves back to
the lighter side or the more
‘normal’ when you see her striking
portfolio of personal art that is
both mature and concisely executed.
gn
Very painterly. Work that was
undoubtedly supported and
encouraged by her psychiatrists.

24 PRESENTER PTC 24
ifi
PRESENTER
Indeed, she shared her own medical
diagnosis freely to her ‘orbitors.’
Something that she never failed to
hide. The point was always there,
somewhere near the top of the
ca
conversation string, if not in her
profile.

I could suggest here that this can

be read as a ‘warning’ as much as a
‘come on.’ Not many young girls in
nt
the middle of a chat session would
confess to suffering from,
“…Stockholm Syndrome…” let alone
knowing what that meant.

Tilting more to the violent aspects

of this, I believe we have to stop
pretending that the end was
VO
painless. This young man’s
thrashing at the neck should be a
warning to all to watch their
tempers.

It’s hard not to get side tracked

in the circus of public commentary
here. Sometimes, when you think a
ID

book is bad, it’s not the book’s

fault, but the reader’s.

The subject of Bianca’s

psychological state has not been
hidden beneath a bushel.

13.
PRESENTER (CONT'D)
Bianca’s mother has committed to
tape about the difficult place her
daughter found herself in and
categorized quite succinctly the
help that she thought was required
Si
and indeed was fitfully provided.

Bianca suffered from a form of

hypomania, a milder form of mood
elevation, that alternated
periodically with severe
gn
depression. It was something that
the family was battling with.

25 YOU TUBE INTERVIEW CLIP WITH KIM DEVINS 25

Video segement to support the point.

ifi
KIM DEVINS
You know, Bianca dealt with a lot
of mental health issues, she had
depression and she self-isolated a
lot. But she found this community
ca
of people that she connected with
and so for her, this was her safe
spot.

26 PRESENTER PTC 26
nt
PRESENTER
In silent gratitude to all this
professional input, Bianca had
signed up to study Psychology at
college which if nothing else,
proves she was committed to further
self-analysis and giving something
VO
back. A healthy sign in anyone.

Indeed she may have later shared

her own troubled experiences of
hypomania with other teenage girls
and been quite a useful
psychologist. After all, she had
the right to say, ‘I understand, I
ID

have been there.’

And anyway, psychology aside, young

men and women need to develop their
antennae for screw ball partners.

14.
PRESENTER (CONT'D)
If Brandon saw some faults in
Bianca, then why feed her the
drugs? Why tantalize? Some men
might say ‘Bro’ I wouldn’t go near
a girl like that!’ In the same way
Si
that a woman in a friendship group
might say, ‘That boyfriend of
yours? He’s trouble!’

Bianca’s young penchants were not

on the extreme fringes of any
gn
deviant sexual behavior, her
discredit only reaches the level of
saying that the young woman was
‘dark’ and had ‘Daddy issues,’
which was true.

It’s not a statement to attract

ifi
anyone’s attention.

Throw a stick at America and you’ll

hit 100,000 women with that
confession. The subject says more
about errant fathers than a
ca
psychological fault line in the
female sex.

An important point about this

killing, is that the story isn’t
about murder. It’s actually about
nt
calibration.

Brandon already had a knife in his

car before the evening’s events had
started. Would he have perpetrated
the crime if his friend hadn’t
stolen a kiss?
VO
If you say ‘no’ then you have to
consider that the knife would have
been brought out at a later date,
either for Bianca again or perhaps
for another unsuspecting teen.

27 GRAPHIC TITLE CARD 27

PRESENTER
The jump from denial to rage was a
short one for Brandon Andrew Clark.

15.
PRESENTER (CONT'D)
It is believed that Brandon, also
known as Brandon Kuwaliski, had
witnessed the stolen kiss between
Bianca and his friend in the car
and was not mentally equipped to
Si
bargain with his depressed
feelings.

He burnt the candle at both ends at

this point. Jealousy might give a
lovely light when you’re young, but
gn
the faculty to douse the flame with
any level of acceptance, just
wasn’t in him.

He would take the scythe and he

would do the cutting. First Bianca,
then himself. Both stabbings
ifi
focussed on the neck. He succeeded
in felling her, he messed up with
his own death.

Brandon was both cynical and at

times polite and also at times
ca
quite “charming,’ as Bianca’s
mother would attest. So far, all
the hallmarks of a dishonest
coward.

And like all cowards, he could only

nt
execute actions in life that made
him feel better. On the other hand,
as I’ll discuss, he was the product
of his own troubled background and
had daemons of his own.

Brandon’s postings of the body, as

it lay before him, had suspended
VO
the laws of nature, petitioning all
the other people in his universe
about his action. He’d never been
that loud about anything up until
that point.

Which makes Brandon an attention

seeker on a par with Bianca. And
ID

the Internet, instead of making

this young man look foolish,
allowed him to enjoy the basic
tribute of attention.

16.
PRESENTER (CONT'D)
He had called 911 and managed to
publish most of his texts and
images before the police arrived,
whilst still hovering over his
victim.
Si
Nobody wants to hear about the
horror of the murder act but murder
is a fact of life and friends can
turn into killers. It’s a mental
switch, that marks the significant
gn
difference between ‘normal’ and
‘psychotic.’

That switch was triggered in

Brandon at the moment he witnessed
Bianca’s stolen kiss. He clearly
experienced the pall in the mind of
ifi
being double crossed, even though
he wasn’t.

A miserable gut wrenching nausea

likely overcame him and perhaps he
became all at once a child standing
ca
helpless in front of his father as
he beat his mother – a frequent
event that we have now learned
marked his childhood.

It’s impossible to adopt a stance

nt
about such feelings when you know
about the history of the young
man’s childhood and I’d put down
good money that more of Brandon’s
childhood psychological assessments
will come out in his trial. It’s
the key that will unlock his over-
heated brain.
VO

We’ve all had feelings of rejection

and helplessness in our lives, the
difference with Brandon is that he
premeditated that rejection by
having a knife already stored in
his car.
ID

Brandon was younger than his twenty-

one years and missed all the signs
or perhaps was in denial about his
potential partner being a good
match. He certainly failed to
rationalise the stolen kiss between
Bianca and his friend.

17.
PRESENTER (CONT'D)
And it’s not as if these things
aren’t talked about. I can think of
two teen movies that explore this
aspect of young love and I can see
you’ve already thought of another
Si
one.

28 MONTAGE OF FILM CLIPS 28

If possible, film clips from ‘Diner’ and teenage fun and

gn
interplay.

PRESENTER
Even in teen movies, the hypocrisy
and double standards of sexual
interplay, is on full show because
how else do you learn the art of
ifi
love and getting along?

Cue the film ‘Diner.’

Trial and error is the only method,

unless you believe in arranged
ca
marriages at the age of twelve. As
far as building sexual experiences,
it’s not as if you can go around
making polite enquiries.

There are established stages in

nt
these affairs and they are
important – the so called ‘bases.’
Brandon and Bianca were never base
two material and it’s understood by
friends that they hadn’t engaged on
a sexual relationship.

One partner might ‘expect more’ and

VO
Brandon was on record as having
made the bid but handling your
bases is a foundation of at least
holding down any future
relationship either as a man or a
woman.

Given all we know about Brandon, we

ID

can be clear about his train of

mind.

Flushing still from the crime he

had just committed, cascading
images of the deceased across

Signing off, "Thanks to everybody

who was good to me. I’ll miss you
all".
gn
In fact his whole demeanor is
really that of the bore. I’m not
surprised by his social isolation
as a young man despite his sporadic
moments of charm.

Bianca’s loss of life at such a

ifi
young age cannot be understated nor
imagined, yet I do I wonder about
her last moments. As children, the
thought game ‘how would you prefer
to die?’ is common.
ca
Naturally the answers are always
humorous like, ‘in a big bowl of
marshmallows.’ Such games are an
honest attempt to deal with
something that you know is
significant but you’re too young to
nt
really know why.

But no one should have to suffer

the way Bianca did, in a frenzied
attack with a young man who
focussed all his wrath on her neck,
one which was delicate and proud,
it should be noted. Maybe it was
VO
the pride he objected to?

playing with the court in this way.

31 INT - COURT IMAGERY 31

ifi
If possible, excerpt from the trial so that we hear Brandon’s
voice.

PRESENTER
In the brute physical world, there
are all too many things that can
ca
kill you. It is perplexing Bianca
didn’t perceive the threat in his
eyes. The music that she loved and
the tenure of her texts dictated
that she was eager to draw the
earth over her but I suggest, this
nt
is only a technique for jousting
with men.

Jousting was a big smile for her,

perhaps balancing the books with
the father that she never knew.

Like the 80s funk song says, ‘Don’t

push me ‘cause I’m close to the
edge.’ You could say that ‘the
edge’ is a natural state for most
teenagers and it could almost have
been playing on the radio when
Brandon drove Bianca away from the
concert.
ID

One also has to wonder why Brandon

wasn’t steered by his own family.

On better mental health sites,

young men today are often sharing
authentic stories of rejection by
women.

I can scroll through several sites
now where men can share their
distresses, so it’s really hard to
understand how Brandon’s darker
superstitions about women, couldn’t
Si
have been vented into ‘The Good Men
Project, Talking About Men's Health
or Men’s Line.’

After all, this is where the

Internet could have recouped some
gn
of its culpability in this tragic
tale.

It’s the Internet that I want to

turn to now.

32 GRAPHIC TITLE CARD 32

Graphic title introducing the next final chapter headed:

‘Social Media as A Guilty Part.’

PRESENTER
ca
There is another culprit here and
this event has opened up the
Internet to a charge of complicity
and any analysis of this grisly
deal should deal with that.
nt
I am not naïve enough to assert
that social media is used
exclusively for honesty. Every
private image posted publicly by an
irate boyfriend or girlfriend is a
negation of their right to the
Internet as a free channel.
VO
But do the hosts just expect
everyone to accept murdered bodies
on the Internet as well? I hope
not. Even a teenager would turn the
head of his baby brother if he had
come across these horrendous
images, surely?
ID

For this reason, and because of

this event, it’s time that the
Internet and social media platforms
had a schismatic quarrel. That
would be something worth posting
about. Maybe this awful event is
the start?

PRESENTER (CONT'D)
I’m sure most people would hope
that random caprice on the Internet
remains rewarded simply by fewer
readers and fewer clicks. But it
appears not to be the case. Despite
Si
people’s inexplicable need to watch
car crashes, attitudes have to
change. Otherwise any social media
platform will become a place where
you can literally die of
encouragement.
gn
The central problem with the
Internet is that it keeps messaging
hidden from anyone who is not a
participant and has therefore been
the ‘go to’ platform for nefarious
activities like the sexual
ifi
exploitation of children.

It’s not an irrelevant point that

I’m making - there are whispers
about Brandon’s own abuse as a
child and we wait to hear the
ca
details. Nine out of ten 14-17 year-
olds today use messaging Apps and
there is evidence that many have
received distressing messages from
strangers.
nt
However, we can also be grateful
that we have sight of large chunks
of Brandon’s correspondence so we
can at least get to the root of the
problem here.

So in the final analysis, let’s not

get too sentimental because neither
VO
of the two characters in this sad
story attained an age of reason or
a role of responsibility in life as
was their right.

Most of us I’m sure, reviewing the

molten years of our adolescence can
think of at least one occasion
ID

where they really needed a second

chance and their lives would have
collapsed had they not received it.

The point being that none of us

solved our emotional pains by
killing a member of the opposite
sex.

At the top level this is a story of

two juveniles who both had deep
psychiatric problems and at least
one had suffered sexual abuse. It’s
Si
still an open question whether both
had. And like most cases, they had
suffered at the hands of family
members – the most damaging kind,
as if that needed underlining.
gn
The trial continues. Brandon
attempted suicide as the police
approached him but thank goodness
we live in a country where you
retain your civil rights, whatever
crime you’ve committed, because
then you and I get a chance to
ifi
understand if the perpetrator was
gravely sick or not.

33 IMAGERY OF THE FATHER OF BRANDON CLARK 33

ca
Cut-away of correspondence or material to support this
statement.

PRESENTER
What is clear is that Brandon had a
background that would make you weep
nt
too. We already know about his
abusive father who has gone on
record with a mea culpa that
Brandon may have good reasons to
have turned sour.

It’s clear that Brandon didn’t get

any intercession from his father
VO
who though errant, still had a role
to play in the young man’s life.

Bianca lived under several

different names on the Internet and
carried numerous delusions – but
let’s not forget that the best
outcome for this trial will be to
ID

stop these events happening again

by keeping an eye on the mentally
vulnerable – that also involves
instilling how to pick the right
friends.

PRESENTER (CONT'D)
What is clear finally, is that the
young mind is a poor tool for
evaluating risk. Manifestly so,
because teenagers wouldn’t get out
of bed if they could make the
Si
distinction between what is safe
and what is risky.

It is an all too common scenario.

The young man who thinks the world

gn
is wrong and only he is right.
Launches posts with the distressing
idea that he has killed but in some
sense is also pleading his
innocence.

Was he petitioning a higher

ifi
authority in that dark hour? Not
really, he’s only appealing to
someone with no higher standing
than Mark Zuckerberg. And that’s a
low bar.
ca
People are good at responding to a
crisis that has just happened with
a will to put things right.

Let’s hope that’s the case for all

future young women like Bianca
nt
Devins.

Thank you.
