GENDER STEREOTYPES

ELDERS
&
TEENS

A lot of adults see teenagers as a people who are preoccupied by social

media and technology. Nowadays most kids have a phone, computer, TV
always at their disposal - and people see that as an addiction. They think
that teens cannot live without them; that they can't eat, study or go
anywhere without using technology. While this is half true - because they
grew up with social media - it doesn’t mean that they cannot survive
without these things. That's an exaggeration made to fit their narrative.

On the other hand, you'll find the

younger generation oftentimes
referring to elders as boring,
closedminded, grumpy people, but
are these assumptions true for all
old people? Or all of these just
prejudices based around someone's
age that do nothing but widen the
already huge generational gap
between the two age groups? Are
these assumptions relevant, when
they do nothing but pit people
against each other for no reason?

The truth is that every generation is different. Times change the

same way as people do, so we should all be more understanding. We
should pay more attention to positive qualities that come with our
differences rather than just the negatives. At the end of the day, we
are all people and we are all stuck together on this planet no matter
what. We might as well be a team!
"Women behind the wheel,
constant danger”, is what
men usually say whenever
a woman does a less
calculated maneuver or
drives too slowly, almost
always starting a
discussion on wheels. "Women behind the
wheel, constant
danger"
CULTURAL
STEREOTYPES
Stereotypes also exist about cultures. It is a common fact that people
tend to criticize a person only from his country of origin. Well the
truth is that every country has its own peculiarities and costumes, but
that does not mean that we can characterise each person according
to his country.

SOME STEREOTYPES:
”All Blacks outside of the United States are poor”
”All Arabs and Muslims are terrorists”
”Italian or French people are the best lovers.
”All white Americans are obese, lazy, and dim-witted”
”All Mexicans are lazy and came into America illegally”
“All people who live in England have bad teeth”
Judgemental
Colors
Everybody knows girls are
prettier in pink and boys are
handsome in blue, right? But
did you know that in 1918, the
socially acceptable colors for
boys to wear wear red and
pink, and that girls typically
wore blue? It was considered
that pink was a stronger color
fit for leaders, while blue was
seen as more tranquil, calm.

It really goes to
show that even
stereotypes based
on colors change
with the times. So,
if they can change
at any time, at the
end of the day, do
they even mean
anything anymore?
