T maximum 800 F
1100 F  Heating Rate 400
F/hr/thickness
 Holding time per table
UCS – 56,maximum
800 F
Variation 150 F
 Cooling rate 500 F
t  Below 800 F cooled in
still air
Procedure for PWHT
 Heating as a whole
 Heating more than 1 heat in furnace
 Per Section or portion
 Internally
 Heating circumferential band containing
Nozzle or other welded attachment
 Heating circumferential joint of pipe / tubing
 Heating local area of Nozzle
 Heating local area of other configuration
Nominal Thickness in PWHT
 For Full Pen. : Total depth of full
penetration joint excl. reinforcement
weld
 For Groove weld : Groove depth
 For Fillet weld : Throat Dimension
 For Stud weld : Diameter of Stud
 For Repair : Depth of repair weld
 For unequal thickness :
For Unequal thickness
 The thinner of 2 adjacent butt weld
 The thickness of shell or Fillet weld for intermediate head
 The thickness of shell in connections to tube sheet ..etc
 Thickness of weld across the nozzle, shell, head…..
 Thickness of Nozzle neck joint to flange
 The thickness of the weld at the point of attachment to
non pressure part
 The thickness of weld in tube to tube sheet connections
