STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS — (REGULATION 2008) ‘Time : Three hours Maximum : 100 marks Answer ALL questions. Assume any other data if necessary. PART A —(10 x 2 = 20 marks) 1. Define principle of virtual work. 2. Write a note on williot diagram. 3. What is meant by Absolute Maximum Bending moment? 4. Draw the influence line diagram for shear and bending moment at quarter span of a simply supported beam of span 10 m. 5. Write the equation of parabolic profile of an arch with central rise span ‘L’. and 6. _ Distinguish between three hinged arch and two hinged arch. 7. Give the expression for slope deflection of a fixed beam 8. What is meant by carry over factor? 9. Give the relative stiffness when the far end is simply supported. What is the sum distribution moment at a joint? PART B — (5 x 16 = 80 marks) 11. Determine the horizontal and vertical displacement at joint ‘B’ for the pin jointed frame shown in fig .1.
