 GENEALOGY:

Genealogy is the study of family origins and history. The word Genealogy comes from
two Greek words – one meaning “race or family” and other meaning “theory or science”.
Genealogy is a universal phenomenon and is found in all nations and periods.
Genealogists obtain information about a family and demonstrate kinship and pedigree of
its members. Data consists of family names, place names, dates of events and occupations
and is gathered by using oral interviews and historical records. Results are often
displayed in charts or written as narratives.

 LIFE HISTORY:
A life history is essentially telling or recounting of a string of events, with personal
narratives; is the unfolding history of one person’s or group’s experiences. People are
asked to document their life over a period of time. Today it is being used in many
disciplines like Psychology, Economics, and Education etc. Life history particularly
involves telling stories and more information can be obtained from historical data,
newsletters, diaries, school records, legal papers etc. Life histories are good at enabling
people to recollect the past and document change.

 SURVEY RESEARCH:
A survey research is a research method used for collecting data from a predefined group
of respondents to gain information and insights into various topics of interests. This
method involves asking people for information through a questionnaire, which can be
either online or offline. Conducting surveys is one form of primary research, which is the
gathering data first-hand from its source. There are several guidelines provided to
consider when creating a survey, including content, wording, response format and
questions placement and sequence. Survey research is used in academia, government and
business.
