TEACHER CORNER:
A Few Words From Ms. Smith, Teacher Librarian
Hello Everyone:
I wanted to take a moment to clarify our movie license and the SWANK
streaming service. SWANK and the movies in their database are covered by a
license which gives you the opportunity and permission to show their movies
in our classroom at school and your Google Classroom. If it isn't in the
database, you do not have permission to show the movie, documentary, or
TV show to your online students. However, if we go back to full time or
hybrid and you want to show a movie, documentary, or TV show during class
time, we have a separate license that allows us to show it without a problem.
If the movie, documentary, or TV show isn't in the database, you can NOT
show the movie to your students. For example: If you own a personal copy of
the Grinch and you would like to show it via your device during your class
time online, it breaks copyright laws. I know this is frustrating and a bit of nit-
picking, but with so much uncertainty, I just wanted to make sure you all
understood the limitations to show copyrighted materials. Don't get me
started on written materials......yikes! If you have any questions, please let me
know.
