Maintenance

In this chapter, we will discuss how to keep the refrigerator in good working
order. Over the next few slides, we will consider:

+ Daily maintenance

+ Monthly maintenance

+ Six-monthly maintenance
Daily maintenance
Keep closed
Keep the refrigerator closed and only open when required to save energy. Lock after use.

Temperature checks
Check the temperature regularly and keep a record as required.

Safe, clean area


Clean the area around the refrigerator regularly. Ensure there is no debris blocking the ventilation and nothing likely to
damage the refrigerator.

Vaccines only
No food or drink to be kept inside the refrigerator. It is designed for vaccine storage only.
Monthly maintenance
Cleaning
Clean the refrigerator and/or freezer including the lid gasket. Check for any visible damage or gaps and apply talcum
powder. Drain any water from the bottom of the refrigerator cabinet.

Refrigerator
Wipe away any moisture build-up inside the refrigerator.
Six-monthly maintenance
Components
Check all mechanical fixings and electrical components are secure.

Cleaning
Clean the condenser and compressor carefully with a soft, dry brush.

Seals
Check the lid seal all the way around the unit(s) with a piece of paper.

Closures
Check that the handle and lock are working correctly.
