Narrative Essay
I have gone to many different schools in my life and this is the story of my journey. This
is very meaningful to me because I have had to go to school my whole life. It all started at
preschool where I met my first 3 best friends. It was always the 4 of us we did so much together.
After the couple years of preschool together we moved on to Thales for kindergarten. Then I met
a 3rd friend and he joined the group and he is still one of my best friends today. We all have
gone to Camp Kanata since we were 5, this has been a main part of my life because we all went
there every summer for a week for residents camp. We were able to play many games and have
so much fun and we still do now. I ended going to Thales from kindergarten all the way to 7th
grade. During that rollercoaster of years one of my best friends left during my 6th grade year.
Then we added someone else to the group in 6th grade, one of my best friends introduced him to
the rest of the group. My 7th grade year was the last year at school with them but we all still
After Thales I continued my journey on to Wake Forest middle school for my 8th grade
year. This was the biggest change I had ever had in my life. I was not happy at all with the idea
of moving schools because all I knew was Thales and my friend group. At the beginning of the
year everything was going smoothly. Everyone liked me and I had made 2 different friend

groups. Both of the friend groups seemed to like me and we got along really well. Then I got
involved in some drama and everything went south for the rest of the year. One friend group
kicked me out of it and hated me. The other friend group just became toxic. So for the second
half of the year I was all alone with no friends that went to my school and this took a big toll on
me. My grades started to drop and everyday just felt the same and I just wanted it to be over.
Then Covid-19 hit and it hit hard. MIllions of people died or went into quarantine. This
was towards the end of my 8th grade year. I was forced to start remote learning and the school
was shut down. Everyday for school I had to wake up and join my science class meeting but no
other class had meetings. So once I was done with that I could just work for the rest of the day on
my homework. I had really good grades in all my classes during 8th grade Covid. After 8th grade
was over I had all summer and at first it was really boring because no one could hang out with
anyone and we were stuck in our houses. Towards the end of the summer I was able to start
Now I have begun high school, which is now my 4th school. I’m still doing remote
learning. I have learned a lot during remote learning like learning how to use a graphing
calculator. I’m able to hang out with my friends and somewhat enjoy life. I can't go back to
school till at least the second semester. Being stuck in my house for remote learning all day
means I can’t make any new friends at school. Along with that I don’t learn as well in remote
learning. I feel as if I am able to ask more questions during the class meetings than I would be
able to in class. Also teachers have to explain things more in depth because they aren't talking to

us directly which I believe helps us a whole lot. Overall Heritage has been a great school so far
Through all these schools I believe that I have learned a lot. Change is all around us and
we need to embrace it. We need to work as hard as we can because life goes bye much quicker
than it feels. School has been very meaningful to me because that's where I meet new people and
friends. It is where I learn and live most of my life on a day to day basis. School allows me to see
my friends and it makes me feel like I have a purpose unlike sitting around the house all day on
meets and doing work. Overall school has been a major part of my life and has given me the
friends and life I have today that's why it’s a meaningful part of my life.
