Automatic Collar Sewing Machine with Cloud Computing

A collar is one of the most visible parts of a shirt. The

collar’s appearance is enough to determine the value of the
shirt. manual sewing operation, especially for small
components not only restricts machine productivity but also
requires additional human resources for trimming and
stacking. With automation becoming the future of the
garment industry, various machines are being developed
and implemented throughout the industries.

Some terminology related to project:

Standard Minute Value is the time required for a qualified
worker working at standard performance to perform a task.
Standard allowed minute means how much time it requires
to make one complete garment, including allowances.

We aim to:
● reduce standard minute value and manual work load.
● improve efficiency and achieve a higher production rate and profit.
● getting the exact number of collars stitched per day with help of cloud computing for each style

● Components:
Water and ProximitySensors
Double needle lock stitch machine
Sewing Folders and Plates
Microcontroller –ESP8266
LCD1602
4×3 Matrix 12 keys Membrane Switch Keypad
Servo Motor
● Deliverables:
A machinery with the following characteristics -
Lower standard allowed minutes
Lower rejection rate
Accurate stitching
Higher efficiency
Better management
Working

The sewing plates of the machine are rotated using a servo motor, making the machine automatic. There is also
a water detector in the machine to prevent breakdown. Since the machine is automatic, there are two LED lights
which indicate whether the machine is ideal or working. With the help of ESP8266, the node MCU, the data
will be collected on a cloud, so that the manager can check which style number is being made in real time. The
help of cloud computing can help in easily tracking the number of garments made for each style. There is a
proximity sensor that will indicate if the alignment of the cloth is correct.

The worker will enter the style number with the help of keypad, collar sewing will act as a spoke line for the
main assembly line, once the style number is entered the machine will sew the collar according to the design fed
into it. An LCD screen is also added so it can display which style is going on for the ease of floor manager or
supervisor.
