Micro Combustion Engine (3D Modeling)

As In different engineering courses there are certain project that we had to make. In the
computer aided course’s project, we had to build a combustion engine using 3D Printer to
have a micro model of the engine. A combustion engine operates with a mix of air and fuel.
This mixture explodes following the spark produced by the candle. The force of this explosion
causes the piston to move, which causes the crankshaft to rotate. This crankshaft then drives
an axle or will directly turn a wheel for example. In order to do this project, we used the
Solidworks software to create the different parts of the engine. So, the process was as follows:
we first create the different parts such as: A piston; A connecting rod; A crankshaft; A three-piece
casing; An axis for the piston; A joint for the connecting rod. And in each part, we draw it first as a 2D
Sketch then we apply the different Solidworks features such us Extrude the sketch which will convert
it from 2D TO 3D, also the revolve BOSS/BASE feature that creates spherical shapes. Now each
component has it own use and purpose in the engine. After creating the parts comes the assembly
where we assemble all the parts together in order to get the final model of the engine. And in this
phase, the measurements should be exact In order for each components to fit in the right position In
the engine. After that come the animation part where we animate the engine and how it would
work. Finally, we use the 3D printer in order to get the Micro model of the combustion engine
