Coursework Teams
Students will be randomly allocated to several teams using Moodle. The purpose of the random
allocation is to expose students to work environment that simulates the real-world-settings
where students may find themselves working with others without having a choice in this regard.
Coursework Teams is the section that contains the discussed above groups and can be found in
the ‘Final Exam Assessment’ section in Moodle.
Team Leader
Students should elect a team leader to coordinate the roles of each member of the group and it
is the one who communicates with the tutor. This election must be completed withing 24 hours
of publishing this document.
Formative Assessment
Teams must assess the work of each member according to three levels of their performance:
A: Committed Member, a member who fulfils his duties perfectly and cooperates with his
teammates.
C: Uncommitted Member: a member who does not fulfil his duties and does not cooperate
with his teammates.
3
This assessment shall be submitted using the excel form titled ‘The Formative Assessment
Form” in Moodle. The purpose of this assessment is to detect extremely poor performing
students to avoid their significant negative impact on the overall mark of the coursework. This
form shall be submitted 24 hours before the deadline of the coursework. However, if the team
recognise one of its members to be Uncommitted Member, the team leader shall contact the
tutor about this matter.
Assessment Criteria
Coursework will be assessed on a team-basis, that is, all the members of a given team will be
awarded the same mark unless the student is classified as an “Uncommitted Member” in the
formative assessment and remained in that status until the coursework is submitted.
The assessment will be based on how the students address the coursework question based on
the learning outcomes discussed earlier in this document as well as on the presentation of the
coursework and the academic writing.
This coursework has a 30% weight of the total course mark and it is part of the final exam
assessment.
Plagiarism will not be tolerated. A work that contains plagiarism will be severely downgraded
and may receive zero in some cases.
Only one member of each team shall submit the coursework to the designated Turnitin section.
