Wai 2647.
Teresa Goza and Eve Rongo
Friday 30th August 2019, 12.30-1.15pm
The Waitangi Tribunal Inquiry into Health Services and Outcomes (Wai 2575) is a
significant national investigation into the Crown’s failure to provide equitable health care
for Māori. In this seminar Teresa and Eve will provide updates on the inquiry and the
cancer claim Wai 2647.

Teresa is leading the oncology claim Wai 2647 which evidences Crown racism against
Māori and the privileging of non-Māori/non-Pacific adults specifically across the cancer
continuum. In this seminar she will provide an overview of the key breaches to Te Tiriti
contained in her claim. Teresa Goza (Ngāti Kauwhata, Ngāti Matakore, Ngāti Raukawa)
is an equity advisor, mātauranga Māori researcher and a national equity advocate.

Eve represents Teresa and other claimants within all three stages of the inquiry. She will
provide an overview of the Wai 2575 inquiry and a brief summary of stage one including
the recently released Tribunal’s report. She will also provide an update on stage two and
three and the key issues that the tribunal will focus on. Eve Rongo (Ngāti Toa, Ngāti
Koata) is a lawyer and Director of Oranganui Legal Ltd.
