Ac said previously, Maioral is the fusion of many Gods and cultures. A Supreme
and having a Gnosis tree of dogma. This force cannot be named, and for such
and magnanimous bein forged with freedom of time and space, exhaling powers
reason, presents itself as Maioral, in other words, he is the "Head", the chief, who
acts As the power tutoring the Empire; who accepts or dismisses the herded souls
according to the need along the battles.
In the pentagram of Maioral, we can see a circumference in the tip that represents
His ethereal essence. Different from the other tips expressing dynamic and
receptive qualities, this tip has a circle representing the supreme sign of perfection
and divinity. The circle also represents the formation of Maioral concomitantly
to the formation of the universe itself, and the continuous state of movement,
whose search is triumph. In a broader sense, the circle is bound to the search for
the detachment from the bonds and all illusion. The circle also represents the fight
against the linear time and inertia.
ne roots surrounding the circumference have a much more complex meaning.
However, in a simpler way, we understand it as power entering in the minds of the
adepts and unlocking all doors preventing the ascent to liberating Wisdom.
Maioral pervades the spaces and discharges the force of everything that forms Him, like a poison that
slowly taints and kills the slave conceptions in human beings or leads them to spiritual madness.
The Ponto of His Holiness Maioral according to our Tradition. This Ponto
evcais the elemental greatness, as well as the power of tutoring over the
whole Kingdom of Quimbanda.
Inside the manners and traditions of Quimbanda, most of Temples/ Terreiros uses an
image very similar to the Goddess Baphomet as a representation of the "Emperor
Maioral". This way of idolatry also happened due to the religious syncretism that
occurred during the formation of the cult, mainly because the great influence of
literary works of the "Christian magus Eliphas Levi, creator of this image. Among
his works, the book "Dogme et Rituel de la Haute Magie", which was translated into
English asTranscendental Magic, its Doctrine and Ritual", was one of the works
responsible for the profanation of the "Mistress of the Earth" and for spreading of
one of the greatest errors in occult circles. We will transcribe from this work an
excerpt detailing Baphomet:
A pantheistic and magical figure of the Absolute. The torch placed between the two
of the triad. The goats head, which
is synthetic, and unites some characteristics of the dog, bull, and ass, represent
exclusive responsibility of matter and the expiatioon ofbodily sins in the body The hands
are human, to exhibit the sanctity of labour; they make the sign of esotericism above and
belou, to impress mystery on initiates, and they point at two lunar crescents, the upper
being white and the lower black, to explain the correspondences ofgood and evil, mercy

and justice. The lower part of the body is veiled, portraying the 1ysteries of evi, universal
Pation, which 1s expressea soley by the Ymbol of the caduceus. The belly of the r
gen d should be colored green; the semi-circle above should be blue; the plumage,
to the breast, should be of various hues. The goat has female breasts, and thuS
nh human characteristics are those of maternity and toil, otherwise the signs of
demption. On its foreheaa, between the horns and beneath the torch, is the sign of
h microcosm, or the pentagram withh one beam in the ascendant, symbol of human
intelligence, which placed thus below the torch, makes the flame of the latter an imae
of divine revelation. This Pantheos should be seated on a cube, and its footstool shouid
be a single ball, or a ball and a triangular stool

Many pagan cultures believed that the goat was a divine animal and full of the
forces of libido and procreation, whose blood has the power to "temper iron'
association with fire itself. However, the figure of the expiratory animal, Starred
through the religions of Israel that symbolically have concentrated the redemption
of their sins in the head of these animals. The Christian religion turned the goat
into the image of the "devil" himself, removing from this sacred animal the right to
be divine and full of the energies of procreation.
. in both cases, however, it is important to emphasize that both the ram and
the goat are clear symbols of solar deities, and in the first instance there is the
exaltation of divinity, while in the second the expiation and death of that god.
The image presents a pentagram over the chakra Ajna, which in our tradition is
called "Abaddon". This energetic center is directly connected with both the Lord
Astaroth and the journey into the unconscious mind that has dark "valleys",
aiming to find the answers for our evolutionary paths. In the traditional image,
a cosmic pentagram represents this energetic center, however, according to our
understanding, only the "inverted pentagram can represent this path, because the
tip representing the spirit must be pointed to the underworld (downward), place
where the darkness of our unconscious dwells. Thus will exist the self-knowledge
and the power of Maioral will have the power of liberation over His chosen through
the unification of the elementary forces, as in the old traditions of the horned gods.
The muscular arms show the warrior aspect, strong and omnipotent, bearer of
the eternal forks (tridents) in the cult of Quimbanda, and the hands positioned
upwards and downwards are symbols of the equation: "What is above and what is
below are mysteries that only the initiates will see!", however, as only two fingers
points to the path (Light or Slavery), we conclude that the occult path must be
preserved. It is not a symbol of balance, but the mystery of the journey of self-
knowledge itself.
The breasts of the image of Maioral are just representations of the "primordial
ocean and honors to the being who gave birth to the sacred lineage. They also
show that He was created as a form of resistance against pre-established dogma and behaviors, a being
who eternally protects His chosen
This image has two intertwined snakes positioning their heads like they are ready to
make war. These two serpents have a great number of meanings, but we believe that
in the cult of Lord Maioral they represent the two polarities in clash, communion
and procreation. Additionally, we commune with the idea that they represent the
unity of the same body of Light and Darkness (foundation of our belief). In an
esoteric way, along with the phallus (central axis) it represents the drawing of the
Otz Daath (Tree of Death) itself. Another interesting concept is to associate both
serpents with the lunar and solar currents, termed as Ob and Od (venom and
antidote).
Ihe mantle covers which cannot be seen, that yet is in formation, or that which
never existed. It covers the intercrossed legs of Maioral, in a sort of authoritative
position, seated over the Earth where He rules over His kingdoms, people, and
legions, as well as His slaves.
From these perspectives, the image of Baphomet, adapted to the cult of Quimbanda
to represent the Lord Maioral, becomes real and truthful. Some see the image as the
representation of the Lord Beelzebuth. This vision is valid also, after all, the image
contains the essence of this "Being" in His formation.
