REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

Related Literature

According to Language Trainer USA (2017) Language tends to

evolved quickly with each generation in terms of making them popular. It is

true that nowadays there are many people who are using millennial words in

their socializations like the mothers because it is now popular in all over the

world that’s why they also acquiring it and use it.

Simplified (2011), the youth of today would use social networking sites

in order to pour out all their ideas and emotions. Nowadays millennial

generations are using social networking sites not just for entertainment but

also to express their ideas and emotion. Mothers are also using social

networking site to communicate to other like sharing their ideas and also to

acquire knowledge.

According to Paraiso (2005) social networking sites shape the lives of

all people in all societies. It influences all aspects of our lives. Social

networking sites can change our lives it’s either good or bad. It can make us

lazy because of being addicted to it. But for the mothers who are using social

networking sites it helps them because it enjoy their day by means of using

Facebook and see some pictures that can make them feel good vibes and

also on the other hand, it can help them to find ideas from google, google

scholar, dictionaries or journal that will help them to gain more knowledge.

The above literature states that social networking sites have many

purposes, we can use it for communication, socializing, express our feeling

and to search for many information. Although sometimes other people who

are using it in not important purposes like watching pornography movies and

passing chain message but mothers are using it in a right way.

Shaw (2011) says that children frequently adopt attitudes and opinions

held by the adults they look to an academic enthusiasm are no exemption. It

is true that adults inside the house have a big influence to the children’s

attitude and behavior and sometimes they adopt bad attitudes because of the

changes in societies. But in this study I can say that nowadays parents like

mothers are adopting the attitudes or the way of life of the new generations.

Myers (2004) state that sociologist and other social scientist have also

begun to consider the impact of technology on socialization, especially as it

applies to family life. Socialization is the process in which people learn the

attitudes, values and actions appropriate for members of the particular

culture. In addition, we all know that technologies are now chronic and when

we are using technologies there are times that our attitude changes because

of being addicted to it and it has impact to the socialization inside and out of

the house.

In addition of Sacluti (2000) communicating with the children is

important to shape their personalities and steer their manners. It is also

important that the parent guide their children until they reach their legal age. It

says that the parents must always there for their children every day to support

them because as a parent they need to provide the good attitude of their

children and improve it to avoid the behavior that is not a human act.

The above literature is related with this study because attitudes affects

and change our society. Every individual have different attitude and because

of our socializing with other people, our attitude changes because we

accumulate other practices and it causes our attitude to switch from good to

bad or vice versa.

According to Lamnirun (2011), interpersonal communication means an

interaction within an individual to give meaning to various stimuli both inside

and outside a person and to interpret them according to one’s own

experiences. Therefore, interaction is very important in households because

they will know if there is someone in households that has a problem or any

issue. So in this case they can help each other by means of interaction.

The above literature states that interacting with other people helps you

to learn more and to explore more things around you. It also helps us to know

the different types of people it’s either people that will make you to become a

good one or people that will push you to become dishonorable person.

According to Lizo (2002), communication is the action of passing on

information through the exchange of ideas, feelings, intentions, attitudes,

expectations, perceptions or commands, as by speech, non- verbal gestures,

writing. Communication is a way of interacting with other, sometimes they use

technologies for communicating to their loves once that is far from them. In

households, communication helps each of them to express their feelings by

means of taking to each other and share what they are experiencing every

day and it also helps them to strengthen their relationship inside and outside

the house.

In addition of Sumagae (2014) communication can be verbal

communication which requires language. We always use verbal

communication, we are using words with sounds and it is very helpful in

communicating to other, but there are times that the words changes because

of the modern societies and it is really hard for others to understand.

The above literature stated that communication is very important in our

daily living because without communication peace would not exist. Through

communication people can express what they feel especially to the current

issues. It also helps to change what they need to change in the society

because every individual has voice to be heard.

Smenyak (2015) states that children learn language by listening to

speech in the world around them. There are lots of modern languages or also

called as “Millennial words” nowadays and some of those language are using

by some parents because they acquired it and heard it from the people

around them.

According to Time Magazine issue (2011) as cited by Estilles, web

based is the most active activities in the Philippines, with Filipinos being

declared as the most active users on a number of web-based social

networking sites. Philippines is not yet fully developed in terms of

technologies but still we have some technologies or gadgets that we are

using in our daily living. Parents like mothers using those gadgets and

technologies for entertainment like Youtube to watch videos or liking and

sharing photos on Facebook. But most of the time they are using it for

communicating to their relatives.

According to Kuppuswamy and Shankar (2010) as cited by Francisco

and Devesa said that social networking websites grab attention of the

students and then diverts it towards non-educational and inappropriate

actions including useless chatting. Yes, nowadays students are addicted in

using of social networking site they are using it on non- educational purposes

and because of this it causes for the students to be more focus on it rather

than doing the home task.

The above studies state that social networking sites are now popular

because of the modernization of the world and everybody in the whole world

using it. But we can’t change the fact that because of social networking sites it

changes our mood and sometimes there are people using it in non-

educational purposes.

Jeffrey (2008) as cited by Asendido and Gabinete states that the

learning behavior plays a central role in the maintenance of growth and

development that addresses behavioral change. It continues to explore on the

management and outcomes of individual behavior. As we grow up it changes

our physical appearance and at the same time it also changes our attitude.

Attitude has a big role in human we can critique people by his/her attitude and

changes because of interacting with others and what we experience in our

everyday living. And attitude can also show the real personality of a person in

a way of showing it.

From the study of Cacalda (2012) as cited by Lacandula, she pointed

out the various transformation of certain traditional forms of interpersonal

behavior among children and teenagers are remarkable. It is not always

positive. There have been reports on the increasing of bullying through

transmission of internet. By the use of social media it changes our attitude by

means of posting stories or photos that is not necessary for the viewers. And

sometimes, because of those stories and photos it can ruin someone’s dignity

and can cause for them to become negative thinker.

Latargo (2007) says that attitudes can have a powerful effect on the

behavior they are not set in stone, but have the same influences that lead to

attitude formation which can also create attitude change. Attitude is really

powerful that has a positive and negative impact on us, it can change

everything and it can also change our society. It influences others by means

of interacting and showing what is their characteristics and once they show it,

other people adopting it and change from what they see and what they learn

from the other people.

The above studies states that attitude is very powerful, it can change

you and other people because when we are socializing with other people we

adopt his/her attitude and It’s either good or bad attitude which causes for us.

And also attitude can helps us to have a better socialization with other if we

have a good attitude.

Algire (2011) stated that the interaction with friends help the learner to

be motivated. The use of cooperation or group activity in teaching helps the

students motivate themselves along with the other students. Motivating

someone is very important and it will never happen without interaction.

Interaction inside the house can change everything and it can change our

attitude, perspectives and acts. It can change our attitude because of our

everyday living and we encounter different persons so that we also adopt

what is their attitude. It also developed our perspective by means of

absorbing different opinions on other. As the time pass by, people change

their acts because of what they see on others, sometimes they are changing

in a good way but sometimes other are not.

Mendez (2009) states that children’s work in school and their forward

are greatly influence by their relationship with family members. It means that

wholesome happy family relationship lead to motivation to achieve. While

unwholesome, unhappy relationship causes emotional tension which usually

has detrimental effect on child’s abilities to concentrate and learn. Family

members are always there for you and they will support you in the things that

can make you happy. For example, when you are going to attend in school

competition your family will support you to motivate you and win that

competition. Interaction between family members can strengthen their

relationship and it can make a happy family which can lead for someone to be

feel motivated.

According to Harbaugh (2010) research has found that introverts are

quite successful in social interactions online, find it easier to express them

online and, in turn, oftentimes prefer it. There are people that were nervous

and uncomfortable in talking to other and these can led for unsuccessful

socializing with others because they will not understand each other. They

cannot express what is they’re opinions because they are not talking to you

they are favorable in using social media rather than socializing face-to-face.

The above studies state that interacting with other helps us to learn

and sharpen our social skill. By means of interacting we also improve our self-

confidence and it causes for us to share what we want to say. Interaction lets

the society to become active because If there’s an interaction there will be a

better community for everyone.

According to Nelson et. al. (2008) communication can help people

exercise their constitutionally guaranteed freedom of speech, few nations

have a bill of rights that invite people to convey their opinions and ideas, yet

self-expression or freedom form of government. Yes, we have the freedom to

speech sometimes we are using social media to post what is our opinions in

some other issues but other abuses this freedom because they are saying

bad word and we all know that it is not good because many viewers will see it.

In the study of UKessay (2017) communication is a process of

exchange of facts, ideas, opinions, and a means that individuals or

organization share the meaning and understanding with one another.

Communication is an act of using words, using words we can communicate to

other people and we can share to them what are facts, our ideas and also our

own opinions on the issue in our country. And if there’s no communication

then there’s no peace at all because there will be no understanding.

The above studies are significant in this study in a sense that in

socializing with other people we are also communicating at the same time.

Communication can help us to understand the feeling of other people, and

when we are communicating with others we also have the chance to know

who they really are.
