GLOBAL MATHEMATICS CIRCUIT

Clash Of Pi

About Clash of Pi
Clash of Pi is a global inter-school online circuit that encourages skill development and excellence in
mathematics. Hosted by piCirql Math, a Singapore-based mathematics education firm, Clash of Pi has
attracted India’s best schools to compete and benchmark themselves, giving students the opportunity
to assess themselves periodically and to achieve mathematics excellence through competition.

Rigorous, Advanced and Exciting, Clash of Pi runs throughout the year. The end goal is to encourage
students to collaborate and connect with mathematics in a cerebral way, and to provide schools
with a seamless mechanism to promote mathematics in their institutions. The competitive circuit
motivates students to work as a team and enhance learning outcomes for all.

Clash of Pi is designed to simulate global standardized tests (like SAT and ACT) and to
promote practice and familiarity with the online medium of testing that has become the norm.
Through Clash of Pi, students earn Global, National and School Level Ranks and Certificates
(distributed through the school).

Designed to promote rigorous mathematics within a competitive and stimulating framework,

the purpose of Clash of Pi is threefold:
1. Rigor: The mathematics aptitude test measures speed, accuracy and consistency of
performance, so students can get practice with maximizing speed of problem solving
while maintaining a high level of accuracy
2. Competition: India's best teams go head-to-head for a place on the coveted Top
Math Schools leaderboard, while students can compete for Global, National and
School Level Ranks and Certificates
3. Advanced Testing: Online, real-time contest prepares students for competitive
examinations of the future

There is no better path to improvement than the positive feedback loop that is generated from
periodic competition, assessment and progress based on actionable metrics.

Details of Annual Circuit

o Clash of Pi is a rolling 12-month online circuit for mathematics
o The rolling format allows schools and students to register at any point during the academic year
o Each registered student gets access to 5 domains within a 12 month period i.e. 15 rounds
o A domain comprises 2 Qualifiers and one Final, over a 3 month period (calendar on website)
o There is no elimination on the circuit. The Domain Score is calculated by cumulating the best
score achieved during the qualifier rounds and the final score (in a 50:50 ratio)
o Each round comprises 25 questions that must be answered in 15 minutes
o Each question carries 4 points for a maximum of 100 on the basic test
o There are no negative points for skipped or incorrect answers
o In order to challenge students, they may be served bonus questions based on their performance
during the round
o A student may earn a maximum of 5 bonus questions, each earning 10 points that must be
answered in one minute each
o Students earn badges based on the outcome of each test. They are categorized as follows: Legend,
Champion and Expert. They translate to the following:
• Expert: grade appropriate
• Champion: moderately challenging
• Legend: fairly advanced level requiring cross-disciplinary skills
o Grades 11 and 12 participate in a common test in the Professionals Leagues
o Students will be seamlessly promoted to the next grade based on the academic calendar

Certification Levels
1. International Circuit Ranks – Top 20 students globally
2. Power Performers – Students who appear in the Top 10th percentile globally
3. School Champions – Top 5 Ranks at the school level
