5.0 Procedure

The suction fan must be running and the master Menu should be display on the screen
before start the unit. The process data will be displayed on a schematic layout of the
system which refer to Programme 1. While, on psychrometric chart will displayed the
properties of the treated air which refer to Programme 2.

a) None process – To read the initial properties of the air when it enters the air-
conditioning unit, the psychrometric chart and the data must be printed out.
b) Sensible heating –
i) 1 kW pre-heater must be switch on for 5 minute. Then, the data and
psychrometric chart must be printed out.
ii) Next, the 0.5 kW re-heater must be switch on for 5 minutes too. The
data and psychrometric chart must be printed out.
iii) Evaluate the temperature rise of the air at the exit in this process.
c) Steam humidification – To boil the water, all the water heaters must be switch on
first. The switch must be only 3 Kw of heat for 5 minutes to maintain the steam
when it is produced. Then, the data and psychrometric chart must be printed out.
Besides, the amount of steam introduced, the change in relative humidity and the
corresponding rise of temperature should be calculated.
d) Cooling and dehumidification – The compressor of the refrigeration system must
be switch on. The air should be cooled until it becomes 20 degree celcius to 20
degree celcius (stable temperature) and let it be for 5 minute. Next, the data and
psychrometric chart must be printed out. Therefore, the heat rate and the amount
of moisture removed from the air must be calculated. Next, the time and the rate
of condensation (100ml) from the beginning of the cooling process must be
measured. Lastly, compare it with analysis.
