Overview
The lessons in this unit will prepare you to be aware and to understand the influence of technology in the
twenty-first century on the evolution of various forms of art and use them in a positive and productive manner.
The lessons will also guide you on how to apply different media techniques and processes to communicate ideas,
experiences, and stories showing the characteristics of the twenty-first-century art. And in the long run, this will
help you apply these knowledge and skills in your future career.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

Blog- a truncation of the word “weblog.” It is a discussion or informational website published on the World
Wide Web consisting of discrete, often informal, diary-style text entries or known as ‘posts.’
Facebook- an American for profit corporation, an online social media, and a social networking service based in
Menlo Park, California.
Instagram-is a mobile, desktop, and internet-based photo-sharing application and service that allows users to share
pictures and videos either publicly or privately.
Meme- a virally-transmitted cultural symbol or social idea
Phone art-explores some of the groundbreaking works that are being created by artists today using cellphone
technology.
Social media-are computer-mediated technologies that facilitate the creation and sharing of information, ideas,
career interests, and other forms of expression via virtual communities and networks.
