Consumer Adoption Process: This process can be defined as the series of

stages which a potential consumer go through when deciding whether or not


to buy or reject a new product.

i. Product Awareness : This is the stage where consumer gets to know about a
product but lacks enough information about it. In other word, it is a stage
where consumers know that new innovation of product as come to the
market, buts the consumer has less knowledge about the product. Consumer
becomes aware of product through Newspapers, TV, Social media, Magazines,
Radio, Internet, word of mouth.
Example :
a. Portable blenders : As we are busy in our daily life, and ignore our health
life. there came these portable blenders. Got to know about these portable
blenders through TV ads , which can be used anywhere and anytime. But
was having less information.
b. Lifebuoy sanitizers : When the our country was affected by this covid-19,
there we got to know about lifebuoy sanitizers, which stated Kills 99.9%
germs. Got to know through TV ads and newspaper.
c. Cheetos lip balm : New in market, with different flavour concept. Didn't
know much.

ii. Product Interest : When consumer becomes aware of new product , he /she is
likely to become curious about the product, and hence the consumer start
seeking more information of the product. The information he wants can be
(product) - size, price, place, warranty, quality etc, and (service) - place, price,
quality , like ola (cleanliness) etc.
Example :
a. I became very curious to know about the product more. I started collecting
information from google, TV, Newspapers. (word of mouth) Heard from
one of our friend speaking about the best performance and advantages of
the product. The price was affordable and had discount for first few buyers,
product was available in variant colours , available on online stores.
b. Was very curious to know more about the sanitizer, went on seeking more
information through google and more. Checked the price, place available
(online and medical stores). As we very a loyal customer of lifebuoy in
terms of soaps, we were interested more in the company products.
c. Wanted to know more about the product and quality.
iii. Product Evaluation : Consumer at this stage start thinking or considering
whether he/she should buy the product, based on the information acquired.
Example :
a. Now through information acquired, i started evaluating based on features
and advantages that the product had. Like anywhere and anytime we can
use. As my family was health conscious, when this product came in market,
they were very interested to try the product.
b. With the information acquired about features and quality of product, we
thought of trying the product. Affordable price, pocket size product.
c. Started evaluating with respect to price and place available, affordable and
new flavour.

iv. Product Trial : After evaluating the product based on price , features and more,
if he/she is satisfied with the information , then he goes of purchasing the
product in small quantity to experience it and judge further for purchasing in
bulk.
Example :
a. Ordered one piece of the portable blender and used it. Tired making orange
and watermelon juice, and it was fun and advantage in terms of use it
anywhere and anytime. It was healthy because we ourselves can make juice
with clean hands and water , which hygiene .
b. Without wasting much time we wanted to try the sanitizer, as we were very
much confirmed about the quality of product. Ordered the product online
in one quantity.
c. Tried one product and was unsatisfied with flavour taste and smell , as i
liked peach and mint flavour, thought to try new but it was not of good
quality.
v. Product Adoption : When the trial is successful, if consumer is satisfied with
the performance then they will purchase in large quantity and , if not satisfied
they will reject the product.
Example :
a. After the trial of one product, we were satisfied and brought two more of
same product one for my father to use it in office hours and another for my
brother to use in his gym of fitness hour when he is outside.
b. After trial of one product, we were satisfied more and brought four more
quantity of same product online.
c. After the trial of one product, rejected because of flavour and quality.
