Scenario 2: The Apartment

The Tenant

Your lease is ending this month and your current landlord is not extending your agreement. You
have no option but to look for another house in Paris. You have been looking at various houses but
because of your ethnicity, very few landlords have been interested in giving you their house.

After looking at several houses you are getting a little desperate and have finally liked one house.
The house is tiny and is on the top floor that too without a lift. However, you are young and do not
mind either the size of the house nor the exercise that comes with it. In fact, the location and the
apartment are perfect for you.

As per the advertisement, the asking price is €700 per month which is a little too steep for you. You
are still studying and are on a tight scholarship. Your current scholarship provides €450 per month
for living accommodations. With your savings and other expenses, you can manage at the most €500
if the electricity bill is included.

Negotiate the final price of the rent and close the deal.
