------------------Desktop
-Desktop shows power on signs, fan noise is heard, keyboard lights lit, monitor LED
lit, sound
- BUT Nothing appears on the screen!
-Point of failure = Display power, display itself, video cables, system[mobo]
1. Check power outlet working, check power cable
2. Monitor LED turns on
3. Video cable=swap with a known good video cable
4. BIST = 1+4 buttons down for a couple of seconds to launch, check manual,
disconnect video cable

-----Laptop-----
-Point of failure = display itself, or mobo
-L-BIST = just press power button = if there is no image on LCD = LED flashes 2,8=
replace mobo
-Types of issues:
-LCD related:
- CID = spider webs, ink blots, oil slicks = ask the customer for a
picture
- No video = 1.remove all external devices -> hard reset -> BIST
or boot test
2.BIST = just power button
3.ePSA BIST = cxer should see color bards, then LCD working
properly. If screen is still blank cxer should hear a beep, after 4 min hear a
chime, then beeps in a 3-3-3 pattern. If beep codes are heard with no display the
LCD has failed
4.External monitor = hookup the laptop to an external
monitor, if image is seen then laptp LCD failed and needs replacement. Otherwise
the internal GPU may have failed.
- DIM LCD = failed backlight = run LCD BIST
- Faint white lines = BIST -> replace lcd

-Mobo related:
- Connect laptop to external monitor
