‘This paper describes an experimental programme and sumercal studies onthe behaviour of austenitic stainless
steel bolts under combined tensile and shear loading. Extensive experimental tests under tension, shear
And combined loading were conducted for A4-70 and A4-B0 austenitic tanless steel bots, s well as grade
'88 carbon stel bolt for comparison purposes. From the test results, the austenite stiles stel bots showed
‘unigee behaviour such as much higher ductility and specific laure mode compared with convestinal carbon
steel bolts. The predictions of existing design provisions (especially che AISC codes) fr stainless steel bolts

The above integration should be performed forthe critical element
through the whole loading history upto the fracture load, According,
to this relationship, the parameter C, can be obtained for bolts under
pure tension:
In the context of ABAQUS, C, was calculated by numerical integra-
tion of the field output variables PEEQ and strestriaxialty forall the in
tegration points within the critical element. The maximum C, calculated
among these integration points (8 integration points within a C308! el
tement) was finally selected,
‘Once the parameter C, Is determined. C, can be further calibrated
