Manufacturing:

The exploded view of our design looks like:

For what we have done until now, This design consists of following parts:

1 Lead screw

Stepper motor

Plates (Base Plate and support with corner rods)

Bearings

2 Shafts

Bearing Housing

Lead Screw:

The lead screw is used to move the base plate in the vertical direction as required, and it is operated
through stepper motor attached to it at its bottom.

Stepper Motor:

Stepper Motor as described above is used to move the lead screw as per required.
Plates:

We have used 2 plates connected with rods. One is basically for the base plate purpose of WAAM and all
the other assembly is for supports and lead screw mechanism joining, so that the lead screw is not
directly attached with the base plate to interrupt any type of the WAAM productions.

The plates are manufactured by St. Engineering Pvt Ltd Lahore. The dimensions of the plates are:

Aluminum Plate: 290 x 180 mm, thickness = 2mm

The weight of the aluminum plate is measured and it is 500 grams = 0.5kg

Stainless Steel Plate: 290 x 180 mm, thickness = 10mm

The weight of the steel plate is calculated to be 4300 grams = 4.3 kg

Shafts, Bearings and Bearing Housing are used to provide support for the whole base plates and lead
screw aassembly and there will be holes in the support plate (lower one) so that the shafts slide into the
holes upto the base plate height and we can change the vertical displacement so as to make it 2D
WAAM process.
