The newsletter’s future

Write At Home has been running for a good few weeks now, and I’m really
happy with how it’s coming along. The feedback has been great - people
landing jobs and commissions they wouldn’t otherwise have known about.

I feel it’s the most comprehensive newsletter of its kind, sharing not
dozens, but upwards of a hundred hand-picked freelance opportunities
every week.

That takes time. A lot of time actually. Between 9 and 10 hours, or a full
working day, a week. As a freelancer myself, that is starting to look
financially unsustainable.

So, instead of simply scrapping the newsletter, I’m going to start charging a
very small fee. I’ve got no interest in fleecing my fellow freelancers, so I’ve
set the price at the lowest Substack (the platform I’ll be using) offers:

- 80p a week (billed monthly at £3.50) / 65p a week (billed yearly at

£33.80)

For that price, you will get two newsletters a week, Wednesday and
Sunday, as well as access to all past editions (useful as many of the
opportunities are evergreen).

I will also be offering a one month free trial subscription, which will receive
the Sunday newsletter for four weeks, but won’t have access to past
editions. New subscribers and everyone who’s already registered,
regardless of when they first joined, will automatically be put onto this
starting today, August 9.

A bit about me
My name's Alasdair and I'm a UK-based freelance journalist and writer. I've
spent years trawling through job sites and social media looking for work...
and now, every Wednesday and Sunday, I'm doing it for you too.

Write At Home is a curated list, one that highlights the best roles - and
weeds out the rubbish. Pay is a major factor in whether an opportunity gets
featured, though you will find a few not-so-well remunerated gigs if I think
they're interesting enough.

Likewise, jobs that don't offer a remote working option are generally
discarded, bar those which seem particularly appealing (in which case the
location will be shown in brackets).
