1) One of the strangest meetings I …HAVE EVER HAD……(ever/have) was in Berlin.

This was about ten

years ago. I WAS WORKING…… (work) as a German teacher at that time. It happened after work one
day at about six o’clock. I .LEFT.… (leave) the school and went home by car. When I got into my flat I
found a man of about thirty years old sitting on the sofa. I was very frightened and surprised too as I…
THOUGHT…….(think) that the door of the flat had not been locked. I didn’t understand how the man (4)
. GOT.… (get) in. We looked at each other silently for a minute. “What DO YOU DO….. (you/do) in my
flat?” I shouted. The man said nothing. He stood up and went out of the room silently. Seven years
..HAS PASSED… (pass) since then and I still feel very frightened and surprised when I remember that
day. Believe me, if you were in my place, you would have the same feeling.

Hello Mike,

There is something I’d like to tell you. I am sure you’ll be interested! I HAVE JUST FINISHED (just/finish)
reading an interesting book called How to be Animal Friendly. I liked it very much and I AM WRITTING
(write) this letter to recommend it to you. I remember we both like the same kinds of books. This IS (be)
a book for young people interested in animals. This is the best children's book I HAVE NEVER READ .
(read) so far. It is written in such a way that it helps you to see things from the animals’ viewpoint. It
TELLS (tell) you many facts about the animals themselves as well as about what cruel people do to
them. I WAS (be) amazed to read how a wolf saved a five-year-old girl who got lost in the woods. I DID
NOT KNOW… (not/know) wolves could be so kind. Now I know that they are! If I were an author, I
would write about protecting animals’ rights.

See you soon, Jimmy
