These socks have a double cuff with points, cheerful stripes, a Jojo-heel, a funny curly toe and... jingle bells!!
The heel and the toe are knitted with ‘German short rows’.
I like to knit the stocking stitch on a slightly thinner needle because I think it makes the stitches more refined.
(see tension) Use Jogless stripes for a better transition between the stripes.
The described sock is a size 40/41 (6./7) [8.5/9.5] but are easy adjustable for any other size. (see table basic
measurements for socks)
Tension
Needle 2,25 mm 10x10 cm = 32 st. x 44 rnd.

Jojo-heel
For the Jojo-heel you knit in short rows. I used ‘German short rows’ for these socks. With this technique you’ll get
‘double’ stitches which you’ll knit as 1 st. later on.
(This is just 1 method to knit short row, there are more methods.)
Jojo-heel with German short rows.
In this example the heel is knitted over half the amount of stitches of the sock = 32 st.
De stitches are divided over 4 needles = 16 st. per needle.
Knit the heel over needle 1 and 4, leave other st. to rest on needle 2 and 3.
Divide st. on needle 1 and 4 in three, (see table), place markers if you like.
For example; for size 40/41 (6/7) [8.5/9.5] = 32 st. divided in 3 = 10/12/10.
The heel is knitted in 2 parts. Between the 2 parts you knit 2 rows across all stitches!
After knitting the first part of the heel there are 10 double st. + 6 normal st. on needle 1, and 6 normal st. + 10
double st. on needle 4.
The double stitch; slip the st. purl wise with the yarn in front. Bring yarn over the needle to the back, making the
slipped st. a double stitch.

Jogless stripes
When knitting stripes in the round you’ll get a visible transition when changing colour which you easily can avoid.
Again you can find more information and video’s on internet, (YouTube, Pinterest) about this technique.
Cast of the remaining 5 st. and pull skein through the last stitch, don’t break yarn!
Pick up 66 st. along the rim, divide these over 4 DPN’s and knit on in the round.
Knit 1 rnd. followed by a 1 purl rnd.
Repeat these 2 rounds till you have knitted 6 rnd. = 3 ridges of garter st.
Turn work inside out and knit 10 rnd. rib *K1/P1*.
th th
Decrease 2 st. in the first rnd. of the rib by knitting the 1 and 2 st. k2tog and repeat this halfway across the first
round again. = 64 st.
Leg
After the rib change to needle 2.25 mm and knit on in stocking st.
Knit *4 rnd. with white and 4 rnd. with green* till there are 15 stripes, ending with a white stripe.
(Add stripes if you want a longer leg, ending with white.)
Heel
Knit 1 rnd. with red. Knit Jojo-heel, see instruction Jojo-heel.
Knit 1 more rnd. with red after the heel so that there are 4 rnd. of red visible at the top of the foot.
Foot
Knit *4 rnd. with white and 4 rnd. with green* till desired length, ending with a white stripe.
Knit until the little toe isn’t visible anymore, this is because this toe has another construction than a normal knitted
toe.

Toe
The bottom of the toe needs to be ‘longer’ than the top of the toe for
the curl and you also need to decrease st. on both sides.
The bottom of the toe is therefore knitted with short rows just like the
Jojo-heel.
Divide work in top and bottom.
Needle 1 and 4 (= 32 st.) for bottom
and needle 2 and 3 (= 32 st.) for the top of the toe.
(put work on 2 needles if you like)
For size 36/37 - (3.5/4) - [5.5/6.6] and size 38/39 - (4.5/5.5) - [7/8]
Decrease in 1th rnd. from 66 to 60 st. For division Jojo-heel, see basic measurements socks.
Finishing off
Close seam at the top (points) and weave in all ends.
Sew on the bells, 1 at each point and 1 at the toe.
Merry Christmas!!
Jolijn.
