Data and Methodology

For our Give Goa project on Road Safety and Awareness we had to gather data for the current
situation of road safety in Goa. For this the data was collected through primary and secondary
research

Primary Research:

1. Survey

A survey was conducted to know the behaviour of people who drive vehicles on the road. This gave
real time insights into information about people. This survey was conducted on college students
which answered questions as to students driving a vehicle with/without a license and rules followed
by them.

2. Visiting Black Zones

Data on accidents and road safety were collected by visiting black zones in various areas in Goa.
Black zones were identified by visiting the areas and analysis on what needs to be done to improve
road safety in those black zones were given. A list of Black zones in areas identified was prepared
with help of the Traffic Cell of Goa police.

3. Interaction with college students

For the next part of our project we visited colleges in Goa to increase awareness about road safety
and its need. The reason to choose colleges as our target audience was because according to data
collected, major accidents involved people in the age group of 18-30 who are usually studying in
college.

Secondary Research:

1. Traffic Cell

Interaction with the Traffic Cell of Goa Police gave us Information as to what are the problems faced
by people and Traffic cell to manage traffic. The traffic cell also gave us insights as to how road safety
awareness should be spread to students in colleges and how to identify Black Zones.

2. Data Collected through Information available on Internet
