The Miller’s Tale

(Instrumental background music during narrations)

There was once a well-off but old carpenter who lived at Oxford. His name is John
(John puppet appears) (one-liner adlib using an old man voice)
…together with his young and lovely wife, Alison
(Alison puppet appears) (expression using a pabebe voice)
…and a boarder, a less fortunate but intellectual student of astrology named Nicholas (Nicholas
puppet appears) (one-liner adlib with a normal voice just to introduce the character)

One day, John was out on a trip at Osney (kalesa/horse or boots walking that gradually fades) - Baga,
and while he was gone…

(Alison humming while doing chores, sound of broom sweeping)- Ypana Aguirre
Nicholas: Al (Alison slightly gasp, as if a little shocked) ..kapretty mo gud talaga. May i-talk sana ako
Alison: Ano man yan Nich?
Nicholas: Matagal ko na baya to gina-hide pero now, di ko na jud ma-endure ba
Alison: i-tell mo na lang gud
Nicholas: Al, kanang kuan. Everytime man gud na makita kita, mahappy jud talaga ako. Tapos yung
Sobra, as.in. Ano man gud Al, feeling ko, in-love na jud talaga
ako sayo
Alison: Ha? Ah ano kase...
Nicholas: Di ko na jud mapigilan Al (kissing then wooden wall thuds)-Rellores
Alison: Wait lang, parang wrong man ito uy
Nicholas: (crying) Bakit ka man ganyan uy.
Oh sige (Nicholas: YES!!) …pero when man natin gawin? Baka kasi
ma-caught tayo ba
Nicholas: Wag ka na magworry, may plan man ako (Alison giggles)

(Instrumental Background)
Nicholas told Alison to tell John that he was ill. John then sent his slave to check on Nicholas and he
assumed that this is some kind of punishment to him and he's nearly gone mad done by his interest in
studying stars. So John went to Nicholas

(Knocks on door, opens door) - Go

John: Dong!
creaks a little)-Colaijo
Nicholas: Ani man gud.
(water rushes and thunderstorms sound)-Maza
John: Hala kahadlok ba ana (sound of moved chair)-Castillas

Then Nicholas continues,... saying that God told him that they will be saved if they will hang three
boats on the ceiling in which they would sleep in on Monday. Once the waters rose, they would cut the
ropes and float away.

The carpenter immediately believed him then started making preparations (20seconds
carpenter/construction of boat noises)-Payar, Calzadora, Royo
Monday arrived and the three climbed up to the roof, (sound of three people walking on wooden stairs),
Payar, Calzadora, Royo

(The three puppets sat beside each other, Nicholas in the middle then John is either on the left or the
right)
In their boats, the three of them prayed then John…
(The old man slowly fell asleep, snoring sound)

Seeing that Nicholas’ plan has worked, the two..

(making out noises for 40 seconds)

Meanwhile (sound of walking that gradually becomes louder-Fajardo), Absolon who is also an admirer
of Alison, went to her house and sang a song (Guitar strumming, then sing any song)

(making out noises continue then suddenly interrupted)

Nicholas: Sino man yan uy?! Kakapal din ng face magdisturb ng people
Alison: sssh (window opens, then wind sound effect)- Tongson Bakit ka man nandito? May love na man
Absolon: Pero… Ano man gud, pahingi na lang isang kiss bi. Then, mag-go na ako

(sound of walking slowly fades)-Fajardo

Absolon, not happy of what he got, went to a blacksmith (large metals banging)-Agang …and borrowed
a poker in the chimney. Then, he returned to the carpenter’s house (sound of walking slowly becomes
louder)-Fajardo
Absolon: (knocking window sound) (shouting) Alison! Alison! May i-give ako sa’yo
Nicholas: Again? (walks on wooden floor)-Go
Nicholas thought that he would make the joke even funnier, so he pulled up the window and put his
ass out (window opens, then fart sound)
Absolon: (coughs) (metal sound, then burnt ass sound effect)-Agang
Nicholas: (shouting) Ah! Ah! Tubig! Tubig!

The old man, startled by Nicholas’s noise, suddenly woke up and hurriedly cut off the ropes attached
on their boats (sound of an axe hitting a wood, then a rope cut off) -de ramos

(Thudding sounds, everything collapses)-all

(People murmuring, steps getting closer and louder) -all

John: (grunting because of pain of falling) Ania na! Niabot na! Ang kusog na pagbaha, gamay ra ang
mangaluwas! (Everyone laughs)-All
