Christmas speech

2020 year was very exclusive because it started with something that we haven‘t seen
or heard about before. Of course, covid-19 spread wasn’t positive, it caused a lot of difficulty and for
some people even trauma due to the loss of someone. Indeed, it almost set us apart because of loss
of communication owing to closed airports and cafes. But we stayed strong and proved that we
don‘t need to stand near to be close, we managed to do big acts together at a distance. With our
help there are now 46 million recovered individuals from virus globally.
Another extraordinary thing that happened was brexit which is the withdrawal of the United
Kingdom from the European Union. This action was done for the first time in history. This year was
full of important events. One of those was America’s president election which ended in a victory for
Joe Biden. Similar even was happening in our homeland Lithuania. It was Lithuanian parliamentary
election that came around. Yet in my father’s motherland Armenia happened something terrible.
What left my family shocked was the Second Nagorno-Karabakh War. It was a true disaster and most
Armenians will mark it by not celebrating the New Year’s. This act will show their sadness but also
their tranquility after what have happened.
But there were some more successful experiences such as the launch of a SpaceX’s and
NASA’s spaceship into the International Space Station. It successfully returned to Earth and just after
a few months the Mars 2020 mission started to take place which it did by exploring the surface of
Mars.
Although this year might seem very gloomy because of all the sad events that have
happened, we had some great events that will definitelly be marked in history and in our memory.
