Fig : Market Share of end use of PCB

Market share :
According to Beroeinc.com , In the year the Printed circuit board market is
expected to grow at the rate of 3% to 4% globally which will result in market
value $66.6 billion.

In 2019, it had the market share of $58.91 billion and the forecasted
demand goal for the period 2020-2025 is to reach $75.72 billion.

Increase in market value indicates the increase in demand of PCB but the
most important noticing factor is that 90% of total consumption is made in
Asia Pacific region hence it can be said that Asia can be a main demand
influencing factor for future. This can also be seen in the figure 2 of
geography wise growth rate.

Particularly India market had the market share of $2.78 billion in 2019 but
india represents the largest and fastest growing rate of electronics market
in APAC region.

The Indian government is coming up with new schemes like “Make in India”
, “Digital India” etc which focus on manufacturing products in India only and
to decrease the reliability on the imports. So the Government has strongly
focussed to set up plants to manufacture PCB in the country and increase
the usage of PCB in various industries like Automotive, Electronics etc.
Through the scheme the government has eased the tax regime, reduced
bureaucratic hurdles etc to support local manufacturers.

Market overview in 2020 (COVID Pandemic)

According to WTO (World Health Organization) covid impacted 100+
countries badly which directly or indirectly will result in demand and supply
of Printed Circuit board in 2020-2021.
It affected the Printed circuit board industry broadly in three ways
- Direct affected production which in result will affect demand
- By creating disruptions in the supply chain and market
- Disruptions in financial institutions and markets which impacted cash
flow for companies

Market trends :
The demand for PCB has been increasing significantly from the last few
years, the only reason for increase in the demand is the emerging need of
consumer smart products that are helpful in common activities we are
engaging in. For example - Smart Cars
(1) Trend 1 - High density interconnect
It was developed in demand to meet small to smaller products needs. This
capability that allows for fewer layers in the PCB stackup and promotes
high-speed signal transmission
(2) Trend 2 - High Power Boards (48V and higher)
It was developed to meet the demand of solar technologies and products.
These technology includes the boards up to 48 voltage.
(3) Trend 3 - Internet of Things
It is a multilevel design strategy that requires fast communication between
layers and elements.especially in wireless technologies .This is the Main
technology behind all the smart homes products like remotely controlled
washing machine
(4) Trend 4 - Flex PCBs
Increased capability, higher reliability, smaller size, and more material
options which increased demand significantly as such that one third part of
total PCB output is flex technology.

(5) Trend 5 -Commercial-Off-The-Shelf Components

The use of Commercial off the shelf components is meant to bring some
standardization and reliability to the components used in critical space-based
systems. It will also lead to less regulation of components

(6) Trend 6- Component Supply Chain Control -

Smart products require more security because of having multi counterfeit
components hence this trend was focussed on eliminating all the counterfeit
components from supply chain which also means controlling supply chain.
