or a lease is renewed

Yearly tasks – to be done as soon after 1st Sarapin as possible

Forgive taxes for any prepayments (reference project 622 for prepayments/rentals)

CITY FORGIVE SHOP TAXES TARGOSSAS_SHOP_# (replace # with the actual shop number)

- If anyone who is on prepayment has already paid taxes by the time you forgive, they do not
get a reimbursement

Check 622 to see if any prepayments are almost up or if any leases are near the end. Contact the shop
owner/lessee to see if they would like to prepay/continue lease. Be sure to update 622 if new
prepayments/lease are taken.

Check shops to make sure they are being stocked and have proper sigils in main shop.

Check city fundraising shops to see if they need to be restocked

**I only take gold from the stockrooms when preparing the bi-yearly report. Make sure these funds are
either used for restocking purposes or deposited into the city coffers

**Make sure that reminders are sent out midyear to those who haven’t paid their shop taxes, so they
get them paid before the end of the year. CITY SHOPS will show who still owes.

Prepayment of taxes – taxes are 1% of the shop value shown on CITY SHOPS
All rentals are prepaid on taxes when the lease is taken out. A shop owner may opt to pay a number of
years ahead of time, they would simply need to deposit to the city with a note specifying such. It’s
important to keep 622 updated any time someone prepays, they will not remember on their own.
Renting out a shop
Shop rentals are taxes + rent. Taxes are 10% the shop value shown on CITY SHOPS, so you would simply
multiply that by two to come up with total cost of rental. For example, if a shop’s taxes are 10k, the rent
would also be 10k, so 20k total per year. This must be paid up front and in 5 year increments, up to 20
years at a time. If someone only pays 10 years, they may pay an additional 10 years at a later point. The
20 year limit allows for new renters to get into a shop (provided there is a waiting list).

The renter may request a new shop/stockroom name, or shop description, at no charge for the first
change. If they decide to make additional changes, they will be charged the cost.

Shops are transferred to the renter, so they are listed as owner. If they chose to have the locks changed,
that is at their cost, but it is highly recommended.

Closing a shop
If a citizen leaves the city, whether by choice or by force, the shop should be closed and locked
immediately. If the individual owned the shop, depending on the situation, you may want to give them
time to sell or transfer the shop, but it should still be closed. If the shop was a rental, they will not
receive a reimbursement of any time left on their lease.
