VI. Choose ONE of the following two situations and make up a dialogue. The
dialogue should have at least 20 replies:
1. One of you is a host farmer and the other one is the customer, i.e. a young picky lady who
has spent four days in the farmer’s guesthouse and who has been interested in going in the
orchard over the hills to pick apples by herself since her arrival. It is pouring with rain and
it is the last day of her stay there. Still, she insists to go.

Discuss the situation together, weigh your options and come to a decision what to do.
Here are some possible solutions with their consequences:
 Wear waterproof clothes – too small;
 Take the umbrella – too windy;
 Take a horse cart to get there- she is terrified of horses;
 Wait until the rain stops – it is getting dark.

2. A young man very fond of travelling goes to a travel agency to discuss possible ways to
spend his summer holiday. His greatest wish is to renounce mass tourism this year and
have a really special and unique holiday.
Discuss the offer together and come to a decision what to do.
Here are some possible suggestions and possible customer’s comments:
 Agritourism – improper accommodation;
 Dark tourism/ disaster tourism – too sensitive;
 Religious tourism – no religious beliefs;
 Culinary tourism – he is a raw vegan.

I chose the first situation.

Lady: - I really want to go to the orchard to pick apples, but the rain doesn't want to stop.
Farmer: - You didn't take your waterproof clothes with you?
Lady: - Unfortunately not! Don't you have some clothes to borrow me?
Farmer: - I have waterproof clothes in my closet, but I don't think they will suit you. They
belong to my daughter.
Lady: - I'd love to try them.
Farmer: - Of course! I bring them right away.
Lady: - All right, I'll wait!
Farmer: - I found them, but I'm sure they are short on your sleeves. Try them!
Lady: - You're right, they don't fit me! How about we take an umbrella?
Farmer: - I don't think we'll get far with the umbrella.
Lady: - Why?
Farmer: - Because the wind is blowing too hard outside. What would it be like to wait until
the rain stops?
Lady: - You're right! But I don't think we can wait until the rain is over, because it will get
dark. I really want to get to the orchard, because it's my last day here.
Farmer: - Don't worry, we'll find a solution.
Lady: - I hope!
Farmer: - If you want so much to reach the orchard we have to find a solution. What do you
think if we take a horse cart to get there?
Lady: - Oh no! I don't even think about approaching a horse!
Framer: - Are you afraid?
Lady: - Yes, I'm very scared,
Farmer: - Why?
Lady: - As a child I was knocked to the ground by a horse. Look, I still had a scar on my arm.
Farmer: - I understand your fear, but this time you will stay in the cart and you will not worry
about anything.
Lady: - But I am very afraid that the horse will be scared of something on the road and run
away. The horse will be uncontrollable.
Farmer: - You have no problems, because the horse is used to walking on the road to the
orchard.
Lady: - But what if the horse is frightened by a thunder?
Farmer: - Now it rains quietly outside.
Lady: - Indeed.
Farmer: - You want us to go and meet Batman, the horse?
Lady: - Yeah, I'd love to meet him! But I will keep the distance.
Farmer: - Ok. Let's go to the stable!
Lady: Why did you name him Batman?
Farmer: - I called him Batman, because he is black.
Lady: - Nice. He is an old horse?
Farmer: - Yes. That's why I tell you that you don't have to worry. He is a calm and friendly
horse. Come close and comfort him on the head. He won't do you anything.
Lady: - You were right, he is really friendly.
Farmer: - What are you saying? Do you have the courage to go with Batman to the orchard?
Lady: - Yes, I think I have, especially since I met him.
Farmer: - All right, then I'll get him ready for departure.
Lady: - It is great! I am glad that I finally reach in to the orchard to pick apples. You will come
with me because the horse knows you.
Farmer: - I agree with you.
Lady: - Nice! Let's go!

VII. Translate into English:

Biosferei Delata Dunarii

Valorile naturale şi culturale ale Deltei Dunării constituie resursele turistice naturale şi
antropice ale RBDD, resurse valorificabile prin practicarea turismului.

 Turism pentru odihnă si recreere (practicat prin intermediul companiilor de turism, în

unul din hotelurile de pe teritoriul rezervaţiei sau folosind hotelurile plutitoare, combinând
excursiile pe canale si lacuri pitoreşti cu băile de soare şi apa marină pe plajele situate de-a
lungul coastei Mării Negre.
 Turism de cunoaştere (itinerant), practicat fie individual, fie prin intermediul excursiilor
organizate) potrivit pentru grupurile mici de vizitatori care au ocazia sa exploreze
varietatea peisajului salbatic, combinând plimbările cu bărci propulsate manual pe canale
pitoreşti cu drumeţii de-a lungul canalelor sau pe grindurile fluviale şi marine, etc.
 Turism specializat – ştiintific (pentru ornitologi, specialişti, cercetători, studenţi)
 Programe speciale de tineret (pentru cunoaşterea, întelegerea şi preţuirea naturii)
 Turism rural (în cadrul căruia turiştii sunt găzduiti şi ghidaţi de localnici), are traditie în
RBDD, multe familii de localnici găzduind şi însotind vizitatorii în Delta Dunării. Acest
tip de turism reprezintă un important potenţial pentru îmbunatăţirea veniturilor populatiei
locale.
 Turism pentru practicarea sporturilor nautice, foto-safari
 Turism pentru practicarea pescuitului sportiv foarte apreciat de vizitatorii de toate
vârstele, în orice sezon, pentru orice specie de peşte, şi vânatoare sportive.
 The main forms of tourism that can take place on the territory of the Danube Delta
Biosphere Reserve

The natural and cultural values of the Danube Delta are the natural and anthropic tourist
resources of the RBDD, resources that can be exploited through tourism.

• Tourism for rest and recreation (practiced through tour companies, in one of the hotels on the
reservation territory or using the floating hotels, combining the trips on picturesque canals and
lakes with the sunbathing and the sea water on the beaches along the Black Sea coast).
• Tourism of knowledge (itinerant), practiced either individually or through organized
excursions suitable for small groups of visitors who have the opportunity to explore the variety of
the wild landscape, combining rides with boats propelled manually on picturesque canals with
hiking along the canals or on the river and marine rafters, etc.
• Specialized tourism - scientific (for ornithologists, specialists, researchers, students)
• Special youth programs (for knowledge, understanding and appreciation of nature)
• Rural tourism (where tourists are hosted and guided by locals), it has a tradition in RBDD,
many families of locals hosting and accompanying visitors to the Danube Delta. This type of
tourism represents an important potential for improving the incomes of the local population.
• Tourism for water sports, photo-safari
• Tourism for practicing sport fishing highly appreciated by visitors of all ages, in any season,
for any species of fish, and sport hunting.
