0 INTRODUCTION

Kelantan is a one of the states in Malaysia that is well known as a cultural center, a center
of Islamic learning and the center of a tradition of intellectualism since time immemorial. From a
developing country in its history, with the various nickname such as “Cik Siti Wan Kembang”,
“Tanah Serendah Sekebun Bunga” and “Cultural City”, to the Kelantan Darul Naim, whatever its
name, the conclusion can be drawn that Kelantan is an image state that has an identity and stands
out in its face.

Kelantan has for a long time been able to withstand obstacles with its structure of socio—
cultural that is hard to impressed in the face of any change. Furthermore, this state also has its
own distinctive personality and has managed to attract east and west artists to make the research
against their heritage art. Its uniqueness is not just because of the Kelantan accent, but it is more
than that. Just say what the field is, Kelantan has everything. For that reasons the Kelantan
people live and thrive within society and Malay culture at large. The cultural heritage of
Kelantanese people is reflected in the cultural heritage of fork and ethic Kelantan itself as seen in
the performances of Wayang Kulit, Mak Yong, Dikir Barat, songket, batik, folk games, silver and
bronze companies and so on.

As state above, Kelantan also known as the state of Cik Siti Wan Kembang, which is well
known of its unique and interesting cultural and artistic features. For that reasons we can say that
Kelantan is known as Cultural City. Among the popular arts among the people of Kelantan are
includes games such as gasing, wau, wayang kulit, rebana ubi, makyong and so on.

What we can conclude from this is that apart from the Kelantanese community of culture
and arts, this is also accepted and shared by the people outside Kelantanese the cultural treasure
of the country. There are so many tourists both from within and outside the country who come to
see the uniqueness of it culture itself. However, in experiencing the changes in people’s mind as
a result of the various linguistic, religious and social inclusions, some of us realize there is one
art in the state of Kelantan that I think very unique, which is called Dikir Barat.
