Introduction
 canal obtains its share of water from the pool behind
a barrage through a structure called the canal head
regulator
 also a regulation structure for controlling the
amount of water passing into the canal
These structures may be described as follows:
1. Drops and falls, to lower the water level of the canal
2. Cross regulators, to head up water in the parent channel
to divert some of it through an off take channel, like a
distributary.
3. Distributary head regulator, to control the amount of
water flowing in to off take channel.
4. Escapes, to allow release of excess water from the canal
system.
WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DESIGN

DISTRIBUTARY HEAD REGULATOR
Canal regulators
 include the cross regulator and the
distributary head regulator structures for
controlling the flow through a parent canal
and its off-taking distributary .
 help to maintain the water level in the canal on
the upstream of the regulator
 PROBLEM STATEMENT

Design a cross regulator and a head regulator for a channel

which takes off from parent channel.
Discharge of the parent canal=140 cumecs(variable)
Discharge of distributary=15 cumecs(variable)
Bed width of channel, u/s=52m(variable)
Bed width of parent channel,d/s=46m(variable)
Silt factor=0.8m(variable)
Safe exit gradient=1/5(Assume)
Depth of water in parent channel d/s and u/s=2.5m(variable)

 Acquire knowledge of canal regulation works

 Acquire knowledge about HTML
 Creating an user interface so that the user can get the design of
canal regulator easily and economically
 Update the template of webpage to web so that people can use
it around the world
