KIWANIS MEETINGS
& Member Highlight

Scott Miller, editor of the Marine Academy of Technology and

Environmental Science's Key Club, accompanied me at two Kiwanis
meetings. We had the opportunity to introduce ourselves to the
Kiwanis Club of Greater Toms River and the Kiwanis Club of Long
Beach Island, Ship Bottom. Both clubs welcomed us and introduced
us to their members. At the Greater Toms River Kiwanis meeting,
Meika Neblett, Chief Medical Officer of Community Medical Center,
spoke about immunology and the spread of Covid-19. At the Long
Beach Island Kiwanis Meeting, Mrs. Dixon reviewed 45 years worth
of Long Beach Island Kiwanis history in celebration of 45 years as a
Kiwanis Club.

The goal of the Kiwanis Family is to help kids all over the world and
provide resources for members of their communities including Key
Clubs. They often sponsor Key Club projects and events so it is
important to bond with your club's sponsoring Kiwanis Club. If you
would like to attend a meeting, please let me know!

MATES SERVICE PROJECT

Inspired by Brick Memorial High

School's Key Club, the Marine Academy
of Technology and Environmental
Science has decided to begin collecting
bottle caps to create a mural. In support
of the District Project, members plan to
use plastic waste to create a work of art
that can be displayed in their school.

In the image above, the artist Oscar

Olivares is pictured standing in front of
a mural he created. The artist
collaborated with two groups: OkoSpiri
and Movement in Architecture.

As soon as MATES officers and members

complete their project, I will make sure
to share it with Division 7!
