Job Description – Software Developer– Marketplace (Web Development)

Key Responsibility Areas

 Supporting the maintenance of the GeM web application and the development of new features
 Responsible for translation of requirements into specifications and ensuring development
quality and delivery on time
 Responsible for real-time issue resolution of issues on production systems related to
marketplace functionality
 Maintain working knowledge of different aspects of the GeM application source code and
business logic
 Support continuous optimization of database servers and implementation of best practices in
disaster recovery
 Work towards maintaining good design and software coding standards and developing efficient
application business logic
 Work collaboratively with the GeM MSP to implement scalable technical architecture and
ensure good unit test coverage
 Any other responsibility as assigned by the competent authority from time to time

Qualification & Skill sets:

Mandatory

 Minimum 4+ years of experience working with high scale web applications - live website traffic,
consumer facing is preferred
 Bachelor/Masters degree in computer science/IT from premier institute1 (top 50 as per current
list)
 Minimum of 1-3 years PHP and JS web development experience and experience with the LAMP
stack
 Strong experience with modern HTML/CSS
 Competent in web services integrations (REST/SOAP

Preferred

 Have experience optimizing web server configurations and scaling web applications
 Experience with at least one other programming language such as Ruby, Java, or python is a
plus
 Extensive knowledge of software build cycles
 Experience in working on Agile methodology
 Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, are required for daily
interaction with team members
 Capability to work in a fast paced high growth environment
