“MIYA AND THE COMET”

IDEA: MIYA, a 30-year old woman has high expectations on the

night of her 5th anniversary with her BOYFRIEND but, her life
beings to spiral out of control after she is dumped and comes
home to find a DOG from space who tells her that she must save
the city on that same night.

TREATMENT: MIYA is ready for the next chapter in her life. On

the night of her 5-year anniversary with her boyfriend EDDIE he’s
asked her to meet him at his favorite Italian restaurant chain.
At 30 years old Miya is thrilled that Eddie has finally decided
to take the next step with her. Miya arrives at the restaurant
with an expensive watch as a present. Eddie accepts the watch
slips it on and tell her “We need to talk…”
Miya goes back to her apartment in tears confused at her
predicament. But before she can continue to wallow and booming
voice startles her and she sees a bright light in the middle of
her apartment. As Miya’s eyes adjust, she realizes that it’s a
glowing…DOG? The dog introduces himself as COMET, an alien from
outer space who has come seeking Miya specifically.
Comet tells Miya that her breakup has freed her and she will now
become a protector of the planet Earth. Miya is confused as
Comet explains that she has no family, no real friends and that
Eddie was her remaining connection to everyday human life.
Before Miya can object Comet tells her that she must start her
heroing tonight! Comet transforms into a brooch and in a flash
of light Miya is wearing what appears to be a superhero’s
costume. Comet tells Miya to fly out and they explode out of the
apartment.
As Miya tries to cope with the situation Comet explains that an
entity called the LUNAR LYNX is terrorizing the city and Miya
must stop it. As they get close, they see the city is indeed in
a chaotic state at the hands of… a gigantic cat. Miya lands in
front of the animal unsure of what to do. She sees the cat swat
a bus away with its giant paw and sees it fly right towards
civilians. In a flash she catches the bus with her bare hands
and marvels at her own strength. She hears a familiar voice
coming from the civilians she just saved and turns. Miya sees
Eddie holding hands with a slim pretty woman as he tries to lead
her away. Eddie notices that its Miya and stops dead in his
tracks. Miya is quiet as Comet tries to get her attention.
Miya sighs and shouts at Eddie to leave as she gently places the
bus down. With tears forming in her eyes she turns away and asks
Comet how to stop the Lunar Lynx. Comet explains how and Miya
captures the cat and shrinks it to a domestic size.
The next day Miya shows up to her job with a letter of
resignation and returns to her apartment where Comet and LYNXI,
the cat, wait amongst a box and a duffle bag. Miya has accepted
her new position as savior of the Earth and is moving away into a
satellite apartment in Earth’s orbit, with her new companions.
