Thankfully, site owner Patrick will cruise up to the village in his Land Rover to collect your luggage
so you and the kids can walk unencumbered through the trees. Although it’s the lie of the land
that’s made the woodland walk necessary, you wouldn’t blame Patrick if he’d designed it this way.
It’s a perfect introduction to rural Devon, a chance to unwind from the journey and for holiday
anticipation to grow. And when you emerge from the trees you won’t be disappointed as you nd
yourself in a grassy glamping meadow where your lodge is one of just three.
The countryside concierge feel does not end with Patrick’s luggage delivery. Step inside your safari
lodge and you’ll nd beds are made, hot water bottles provided and, if you’ve been sensible
enough to pre-order from the site’s Larder Menu, the kitchen is stocked with your choice of
goodies from locally-sourced breakfast packs to bottles of Champagne. These spacious lodges are
luxurious but not showy; tastefully decorated and designed with the environment in mind. They
are en suite but o -grid with solar energy for lighting and power for your fridge. Natural materials
and muted colours mean that the great outdoors remains the big attraction. There’s no hot tubs
or TVs but there are camp res, stars and board games instead.
The woodland walk, of course, provides a handy link back to Bickleigh, which is more than just a
place to park the car. There’s a selection of crafty shops and a tearoom in a watermill, riverside
walks, a railway museum and a pub that serves food. There’s wild swimming in the Exe too but if
you fancy a dip in the sea, Exe Valley Glamping is within an hour’s drive of sandy North Devon
beaches and closer to the shinglier ones of the south. It’s closer still to the adventures out on
Exmoor and Dartmoor - and the market town of Tiverton is just three miles away. In fact, the
‘somewhere’ that Exe Valley Glamping belongs to is not that far from anywhere in Devon. Stay
here and you might just nd there’s nowhere you’d rather be.

Getting There
Exe Valley Glamping is around 10 miles from the M5 at Junction 27, between Tiverton and Exeter.
You won't nd the exact location on Google maps and there is no direct car car access. Instead,
park in Bickleigh Village, where Patrick will meet you and transfer your luggage to his Land Rover
while you walk for ve to eight minutes through the woods to your tent.
There are mainline railway stations at Exeter and Tiverton Parkway, both around 11 miles from
site. Taxis are available from both stations and buses stop at Bickleigh on the Exeter to Tiverton
bus route. Tiverton Parkway Railway Station is outside the town and reaching Bickleigh requires a
change of bus in Tiverton town centre.

Exe Valley Glamping is a wonderful camping experience for camping pros or rst timers. We
enjoyed the local area and really kicked back and relaxed at the site. There are some lovely Exe
ricer walks locally where we caught little sh and taught the children to skim stones. We bought a
canoe, which was also great fun and there are some lovely local canoe sites. The tent is equipped
with everything you could possibly need and we loved our time.
Wow! What a place! Just spent a week there with our 3 children and we had a wonderful time.
From the moment we got to the tent, having left our car 10 minutes down the hill, to the moment
we left, we have loved our stay in our luxury tent. The tent itself is superbly equipped and the “o
grid” experience is fantastic... time slows down and we have to learn to be patient again (wait for
the water to heat, hing red the wood stove, before our showers for instance). The site itself is
great the boys explored and played around the tent every day discovering animals (we saw a slow
worm, tiny frogs, etc) and just had fun in what felt like a super safe yet adventurous setting. And
the views from across the valley are rather nice too. The location itself is great: perfect base to
discover the region with Exmoor and Dartmoor as well as both coasts of Devon easily reachable. I
also had some of the best mountain biking riding i have ever done in the UK as a bonus. The only
suggestion for improvement would be to have a bit more information available about what to do
in Devon or even a guest book for people to leave their suggestions. We will de nitely come back
to this little piece of paradise!
