To Whom It May Concern

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for my former student
Sumanth Uppuluru as he wishes to pursue his Master’s degree in public Policy. As a Professor of
Mechanical Engineering, at the Maturi Venkata Subba Rao (MVSR) Engineering College, Osmania
University, I taught him three courses and served as his Major Project advisor. He is highly
motivated, self-driven and resourceful. His desire to impact the world with his work is very strong.
Right from the beginning of his undergraduate degree, his strengths have lied in his excellent
communication skills and strong leadership abilities. He was quick to action and able to rise to a
challenge. These skills were clearly evident when he was repeatedly chosen to represent our
university at National Technical and cultural fests held at reputed universities across the country and
national competitions.
While he was immersed in these activities, he never let his academics out of sight. He has been
constantly engaged in the classroom and added to a lot of perspective in my courses. His analytical
skills were of particular use when he was working on his final year project.
Over the course of 4 years I saw in him a gradual shift towards working in the development sector
to uplift the living standards of the underprivileged communities by providing access to education,
nutrition and health. I wasn’t surprised when he informed me of being selected for the highly
selective “Teach For India Fellowship”. Since then I have followed his work with projects like
1000 smiles and his current organization Indus Action . His work on migrant crisis was
commendable and showed his networking skills to support 20,000 migrants to reach their home
town and commitment to make sure they don't suffer with hunger and injustice in India. I
contribute in whatever way I can to his projects from time to time. I can clearly see his passion for
creating solutions which solves complex social problems through inclusion and innovation.
It is really heartwarming to see someone this young think in this way and create so much impact in
such a short time already. I believe that his decision to pursue his graduate study in Public policy is
timely and will give him greater insight and experience in the field. Sumanth has my complete
support in his pursuit of a suitable graduate studies program.
I strongly believe that his ability to lead, communicate, analyze and create impact will lead him to
cause significant change in the social system in the near future. You’re welcome to write to me for
any other information you require.
Thank you,

Dr. J. Kandasamy .
