NON-TARIFF BARRIERS

 They are administrative measures that are imposed by a domestic government to


discriminate against foreign goods and in favour of home goods.

KINDS OF NON-TARIFF BARRIERS

1. Import Quotas
 Implies a fixed quantity or value of commodity that has been allowed to be imported in the
country during a given period of time.

2. Voluntary Export Restraint


 Agreement by a country’s exporters or government with an importing country to limit their
exports to it.

3. Export Subsidy
 A government grant to an export firm to reduce the price per unit of goods exported abroad

4. Countervailing Duty

 An import duty or tariff imposed by an importing country to raise the price of a subsidized
export product to offset its lower price.

4. Government Procurement
 Procurement of goods, services and construction on behalf of a public authority

5. Customs Valuation and Classification


 CV is a customs procedure use to determine the customs value of goods declared for
importation.
 CC is a customs procedure used to classify the goods
