RECOMMENDATIONS DURING PREGNANCY

INTRODUCCIÒN
Pregnancy is the period from the implantation of the fertilized egg into the
uterus until the time of delivery.
After the ovule is fertilized, changes occur in the woman's body, both
physiological and metabolic, designed to protect, nourish and provide
everything necessary for the proper development of the fetus.
Pregnancy care is intended as a useful tool for pregnant women in general
about care before, during and after pregnancy, care that can significantly
improve the quality and optimal development of the newborn.
RECOMMENDATIONS TO BE CONSIDERED BY FIRST-TIME MOTHERS

 CONCERNING WITH FEEDING


o The pregnant woman must consume iron of animal origin, such as
liver, lung, spleen, blood, among others.
o The pregnant woman should consume vegetables such as
broccoli, spinach, chard, stews, fruits such as apple, pear, orange,
grapes, bananas, kiwi, pineapples, etc.
o Accompany iron-rich foods with citrus fruits, for better iron
absorption.
o The pregnant woman should consume 5 servings of daily meals.
o Consume 2400 calories daily.
o Increase the consumption of sunflower and olive oils.
o Consume 1 to 1 ½ liter of water a day.
o Avoid drinking stimulant drinks such as alcohol, coffee, tea and
carbonated drinks.
o The pregnant woman should avoid lie down after eating, for good
digestion.
o The pregnant women should avoid the consumption of animal fat
as sausages, butters, bacon.
o The pregnant women should avoid excessive consumption of
sugars as cakes.
o The pregnant woman should avoid eating raw or undercooked
meat.
o The pregnant woman should avoid excess flour.
o The pregnant woman should avoid self-medication and
overconsumption of vitamins.

 HYGIENE
o Daily showering is important as it stimulates blood circulation and
serves as a relaxant.
o Brush your teeth after each meal with a soft bristle brush
o Wear cotton underwear.
o Use sunscreen when going out to be exposed to the sun.
o Daily genital wash to prevent bacterial growth.
o Avoid exposure to the sun if you have spots on your face.
o Wear comfortable clothes to avoid varicose veins.
o Wear comfortable shoes.
o Avoid contact with cat feces.

 POSTURAL CARE
o Do not stand for a long time
o When walking stand up straight and keep your back straight

 SLEEP AND REST


o It is advisable to sleep on your side with your knees bent and a
pillow between your legs preferably on the left side to facilitate
circulation.
o Avoid the upside down position as it can cause dizziness or
decrease the oxygenation of the baby.
o Keep rest and avoid making efforts like carrying weight

 EXERCISE
o It is advisable to practice sports such as swimming, outdoor walk,
yoga, dance.
o Avoid sports that cause fatigue and strength.

 CONTROLS DURING PREGNANCY


o The pregnant woman should have her first check-up before weeks
14th.
o Should be perform on pregnant women futher tests such as
protein screening, hemoglobin, obstetric ultrasound, glucose test,
urine culture.
o The pregnant woman should take folic acid until week 13 th of
gestation.
o The pregnant woman should take folic acid and ferrous sulfate
from week 14th of gestation until labor.
o The pregnant woman should drink 2000 mg of calcium a day, from
week 20 until labor.
o Educate about the warning signs and symptoms: excessive
nausea and vomiting, fever, vaginal bleeding, fainting, dizziness,
seizures, loss of amniotic fluid, etc.
o The pregnant woman should prevent infections such as malaria,
dengue, zika, using mosquito nets, repellent, long clothes,
condom use, followed by a thick drop

Vaccination:
o The pregnant woman must have the tetanus vaccine placed from
week 27th to 36th of gestation.
o The pregnant woman must have the influenza vaccine placed
from the 20th week of gestation.
