 Acquire knowledge on, electric drives characteristics and their applicability in industry
based on the nature of different types of loads and their characteristics.
 To understand the methods of electric heating and welding.
 Understands the concepts and methods of illumination and good lighting practices.
 Understands the concepts and methods of electric traction.
 Apply the above concepts to real-world electrical and electronics problems and
applications.

FACTS Course Outcomes: (EE861PE)

 Understand the fundamentals of FACTS controllers and their role in improving power
system performance.
 Apply the knowledge of Voltage Source Converters for FACTS Controllers.
 Explain Shunt FACTS Controllers and their functions in transmission systems.
 Understand SVC and STATCOM for various functions viz. Transient stability
Enhancement, voltage instability prevention and power oscillation damping.
 Analyse the use of control schemes of TCSC, TSSC, GSC in improving the power
quality.

 Understand the working of various types of circuit breakers and protective


equipments of power systems.
