SETATHANE® D 1160

Technical Datasheet

TYPE USES

Slightly branched, castor oil-based polyol In combination with solvent-free, predominantly aromatic
polyisocyanates, as a binder for flexible floor coatings.

FORM SUPPLIED PROPERTIES / APPLICATIONS

Pale yellow, solvent-free liquid  The most suitable co-reactant for SETATHANE D 1160 is Desmodur VH 20

N1. Other polyisocyanates such as Desmodur VL1 are also suitable but
x the compatibility must be tested in each case.
x
SETATHANE D 1160 can be used in the formulation of flexible floor
SPECIFICATION coatings.

Viscosity (23 °C): 1000 ± 100 mPa·s Coatings based on SETATHANE D 1160 and Desmodur VH 20 N are
DIN EN ISO 3219/A.3 characterized by their high flexibility and good mechanical strength.
For calculation of the necessary amount of polyisocyanate at equivalent
Hydroxyl content, supply form: 5.4 ± 0.3 %
chemical reaction use following formula:
DIN 53 240-2
42 x 100 x OH% (solid resin)
 = polyisocyanate (supply form)
Acid value, supply form: ≤ 2.0 mg KOH/g
17 x NCO% (supply form)
DIN EN ISO 2114
x
Iodine color value: ≤ 5.0 x
SOLUBILITY / THINNABILITY
DIN EN 1557
Generally speaking, SETATHANE D 1160 can be thinned with esters,
Water content: ≤ 0.2 % ketones, ether esters and aromatic hydrocarbons. However, the solutions
DIN 51 777-1 formed have to be tested for their storage stability.
Only PUR grade solvents should be used (< 0.05 % water). The solvent

x
should not contain reactive groups.

OTHER DATA* x
  x
Equivalent weight, supply form: approx. 315 g/eq COMPATIBILITY

Density (20 °C): approx. 0.99 g/cm 3 Generally speaking, SETATHANE D 1160 is compatible with solvent-free
SETATHANE D grades such as SETATHANE D1150 and with Desmodur1
DIN EN ISO 2811-2
grades. In case of doubt, compatibility testing should be carried out.
