Duo Cone Seals Assembly Guide – SAP Parts

Mechanical Face seal

The mechanical surface packing is fitted in the groove of the retaining groove to form a seal on
the adjacent surface. The metal surface is precision lapped. The lamp angle of the seal and
housing is slightly different and the rubber ring slides to form a wedge to form a compressed
profile that will load and damage the seal.

Housing Preparation:

Make sure that there is no foreign material in the housing components that contact the rubber
tear ring (3 and 4a) before installing the seal. You should do this using a lint-free wiping agent
and non-petroleum solvent (especially SAP part seal-o-fix spray).

Wipe clean. Remove debris from the rubber rings (2), ramps (7), and lip (8) of the two seal
rings.

Place the rubber torx on the metal seal ring at the bottom of the sealing lamp and align it with
the bottom of the seal ring lamp and the fixing lip.

Make sure that the O-ring is straight on the rim and is not buckled or twisted. May lead to
improper installation.

Approved Assembly Lubricants:

SAP Parts - Seals - O - Correction Spray / Isopropyl Alcohol * Follow all safety precautions when
handling volatile solvents. Do not use other oils that do not leave oil film or do not evaporate.

SAP Parts Seal Installation Tool:

The following is the shape of the seal installation tool. It consists of a steel bracket with a
special groove on the face of the bracket ring and a round bracket-type polyamide ring with
check nut, which locks the seal with O-ring and pushes the O-ring into the housing groove.

Duo Cone Seal Installation Process:

Duo Cone / Metal Face Float Seal should always be installed using the appropriate installation
tool.

Steps By Step Seal Installation:

1. Align the right duo cone, installation tool, thread-on-fix spray, mallet, and lint-free cloth
before starting actual cabinet seal installation. The step-by-step seal installation process
described in SAP parts.

2. Make sure you are using the appropriate tool part number and design provided by the
SAP part for the seal. Note: - There are different tools for each painting. Check seal
faces, o-rings and housings are clean, free from mechanical damage, dents. Appropriate
tool part numbers and designs provided by SAP parts for inserts.

3. Attach the Seal-O-Fix to the seal surface and clean the seal using Lint Free Wipe. Clean
the surface of the seal thoroughly and make sure there are no microscopic dust. O-rings
Spraying around the circumference provides sufficient lubricant for the seals to fit into
the cavity of the housing.

4. Insert the O-ring into the seal ram and ensure that it is properly fastened to the sleeve.
Make sure that the O-Ring is not twisted or twisted.

5. Hold the O-ring on the seal lamp and insert the tool lip between the O-ring gap and seal
surface inside the round guide groove on the tool. Hold the o-ring on the seal lamp and
tighten the tool lip between the o-ring gap and the seal surface.

6. Firmly fasten the seal to the clamp formed by bringing the edges of the clamp close to
each other and tightening the check nut provided on the tool.

7. This will enable tensioning in the installation tool.

Installation of Seal inside the Housing Groove:

1. When installing the seal, prepare a cleaned seal and a cleaned and wiped housing.
Attach the seal to the house.

2. Hold the o-ring in the fixture and form the tool guide assembly as described above.

3. Hold the seal and O-ring firmly to ensure that the O-ring is not twisted. Place the seal
and tool in the groove entrance.

4. Press the fixture with a uniform load on the guide plate and experience the O-ring
insertion needle inside the housing. The small ring can be fixed manually. The large ring
uses a wooden hammer to softly and lightly press around the rim of the guide plate.

Caution !!!

The rubber o-ring may be twisted if it is not wet during installation or if there are burrs and pins
on the retaining ramp of the housing. Torsion, misalignment and bulging of the O-ring will cause
seal failure. If the seal is not installed properly, remove the housing and repeat the process.

 Never use rubber O-rings with blowholes / damage.

 If the sealing surfaces get dirty, clean them well before assembly.
 Do not hit the sealing surface with a hammer. Do not use O-rings to find O-rings.
 Wipe the sealing surface thoroughly before installation.
 Use Seal-O-Fix Spray.
 Make sure that the sealing edges are free of dust, dirt, and hair.
 Always use a lint-free cloth or cloth and do not use paper or tissue.
 Ensure that the two seals are in the correct housing together during the final assembly
of the unit. If the shock is large, the seal parts may be scratched or damaged.
