According to Dominguez T.

(2015), humans have anywhere between nine and twenty-one

senses. Neurologists classify senses into one of two ways: exteroceptive and interoceptive. Our
exteroceptive senses are senses that perceive the body's own position, motion, and state,
known as proprioceptive senses. It includes the traditional five senses (sight, hearing, touch,
taste and smell) with the ability to sense temperature, pain, and proprioception which means
knowing how and where your body is moving. Our Interoceptive senses helps us understand
and feel what's going on inside our body. It detects responses that guide regulation, including
hunger, heart rate, respiration and elimination.
