Location Error
In the “Megacode This section shows a classroom simulation of a
and Team code team using a monitor/defibrillator. In

number, manufacturer’s logo and brand name
were not shown on camera.
The team leader announces, “We've got v-fib.
This biphasic unit uses 200 joules. Let's shock at
200 joules." The close-up shot on the video
then briefly shows the monitor/defibrillator dial
set to 200 J. Unfortunately users familiar with
the make and model of the device that is shown
in the video may become confused by the
discrepancy between the energy setting that is
used in the video and the dose recommended by
the device manufacturer.
Correction
It was not our intent to suggest that 200 Joules is,
in reality, the correct energy for this specific
make and model of defibrillator. Viewers should
be aware that the monitor/defibrillator shown in
the ACLS video is a Philips MRx manual
defibrillator and the manufacturer’s recommended
energy setting for conversion of VF is 150 J.
This issue will be corrected on the next reprint of
the video. The team leader will state, “I don't
know the recommended settings for this biphasic
unit.” On-screen text will also appear stating, “If
known, use the manufacturer's recommended
settings.”
