Good day to all!

It’s already October! And what comes on your mind whenever
“Ber” months started?
How one could not be agitated for the upcoming Halloween par-
ties with the kids, long weekend vacation and of course Christ-
mas season; where we could spend time with our family, indulge
with festive dinner, and have a quick break from tons of work-
load.
But before these celebrations, almost all companies in the coun-
try are very busy with the “PERFORMANCE EVALUATION” of
their employees, am I right?

CLAUSE 4.2 - UNDERSTANDING THE NEEDS AND
EXPECTATIONS OF INTERESTED PARTIES
By: Sim Garcia, Quality Management Section

What is a relevant interested party?

Since the acquisition of MHPS-TS certification for In ISO 9001: 2015 standard clause 4.2 talks
ISO 9001 : 2015 some of MHPS-TS employees about understanding the needs and expecta-
doesn’t have a clear understanding of what the tions of interested parties and it’s requirements.

standing the needs and expectations of interest- ested parties are relevant to the QMS, and the

and how they affect your QMS processes. ing who is a relevant interested party for your
QMS, take a look at these groups:

CUSTOMERS :
The people who use your product directly affect your
ability to satisfy their needs. You need to understand the
needs, expectations, and requirements of these people,
because how they will use your product or service deter-
mines how your products or services need to be created.
These can be some of your most important interested
parties.

GOVERNMENTS & NON-GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATIONS :

Many industries have legal requirements that their products and services need to meet, and their can be a great
cost to not meeting these. In addition, it’s important to understand the expectations of other organizations, such as
industry watchdog groups, which might identify what levels of performance and durability are expected by your
timeline customers.
GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATIONS NON- GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATIONS

EMPLOYEES :
Even if your employees are not purchasers of your prod-
ucts or service, they will want to work in an environment
that creates products and services that will meet the
needs of your end customers. Nobody wants to create
faulty products or services.

SHAREHOLDERS :
Since your financial bottom line is directly affected by
the costs of your products or services, your share-
holders will be interested in how well your QMS per-
forms. In particular, the expectations around continual
improvement could be extremely important for this
group of interested parties.

SUPPLIERS :
The inputs of your products and services are the resources which is
being catered by the suppliers. The products and services will be
affected once the resources needed to produce your products and
services are not delivered correctly in terms of your requirements.

WHY DO YOU NEED TO KNOW YOUR RELEVANT INTERESTED PARTIES ?

The ISO 9001:2015 standard have several requirements that involves the knowledge you have acquired when
determining the relevant interested parties and their requirements. It will probably not be surprising that you
need to know the expectations and requirements of those identified and above to properly carry out these
QMS processes. In brief:
 The QMS scope needs to include the requirements of relevant interested parties ( Section 4.3 ).
 The Quality Policy is to be made available to relevant interested parties when appropriate ( Section
5.2.2 ).
 Measurement traceability needs to be maintained when this is an expectation of relevant interested
parties ( Section 7.1.6 ).
 Requirements for products and services may need to include those from relevant interested parties
( Section 8.2.3 ).
 Design and development activities need to take into account requirements of relevant interested par-
ties, including how much control is expected in the design and development process ( Section 8.3 ).
 Management review needs to include issues that concern relevant interested parties ( Section 9.3 ).

PROPER QMS PLANNING NEEDS TO INCLUDE RELEVANT INTERESTED PARTIES

If you understand the needs, expectations and requirements of your interested parties, it is easy to see that
these are critical to ensuring that your products or services meet requirements, which is the reason behind hav-
ing your Quality Management System. So, it is important to know and understand your interested parties if
you are to properly plan and implement the processes of your QMS.

ICT CORNER

THE BIRTH OF WEBSITE

By: Ron Jacob M. Gamboa, ICT Department

Tim Berners-Lee, a British scientist at CERN, invented the World Wide Web
(WWW) in 1989. The web was originally conceived and developed to meet the de-
mand for automatic information-sharing between scientists in universities and in-
stitutes around the world

The first web page address was

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGE AND DISADVANTAGE OF USING WEBSITE?

Cost Savings

Large organizations can use websites and web pages to make information
available to the public that used to require printing or call centers. The
Internal Revenue Service, for example, maintains a page of downloadable
tax forms, instructions and other publications, as well as numerous tax
information pages. Businesses no longer need to publish comprehensive
catalogs of products, but instead, make the information available online.
Online businesses, particularly those that provide purely electronic prod-
ucts, reduce costs by eliminating the majority of overhead expenses.

Availability

Barring a power outage or technical failure, websites never stop working. This means a
company can take orders at all hours any day of the week. This also opens up foreign mar-
kets without requiring a company to operate beyond normal business hours in its home
region. Information seekers do not need to wait for a library to open to access materials if
they exist in a digital format. Web site can be updated any time it's needed, enabling peo-
ple with day jobs to run online businesses in their off hours.

Website Costs

Websites save organizations money, but also come with costs, both in
time and money. Most businesses and organizations opt to purchase a
specific domain name, rather than operating under the domain name of
a free website and hosting service. Like other visual mediums, effective
websites require some design work, which means either hiring a web
designer or handling design in-house. The first option costs money. The
second option requires time and energy away from other organizational
concerns. Content development takes time, if handled in-house, or costs
money for a third party to write. There are also recurring website
hosting fees, annual renewal of domain names and the electronics and
software needed to manage the site.

Visibility

A website no one sees has zero value. Unless a site commands brand name appeal, it
must rely on other methods to draw traffic. This generally means achieving a high search
engine ranking. In practice, this requires a number of elements. Successful websites
maintain quality content and add to it consistently. Ranking well also hinges on search
engine optimization, which includes careful keyword selection, appropriate meta- and
title-tags, and both incoming and outgoing links. Deploying useful SEO methods takes
time or engaging the services of SEO experts. Potential customers who don't use the
Internet for shopping and news reading may not find your website at all, so if you don't
also use newspapers, direct mail or broadcast media, you may not reach those people
with your message.
