DEVELOPMENTAL TASK
 Middle Adulthood: 30-60 years old
 Generativity vs. Stagnation – Care

During this stage, middle-aged individuals experience the need to create and nurture
something that will outlast them, often done by doing good to others or educating young
ones for the future generation (McLeod, 2018).

Generativity is defined as “making your mark” by contributing to society and doing good
to others to make the world a better place. On the other hand, Stagnation refers to
failure of doing such deeds resulting in the individual to be feeling unproductive and
uninvolved in the society and the whole community (Cherry, 2019).
