EXT. SIDNEY PRESCOTT RESIDENCE: NIGHT.

Though many years have passed, the house is instantly

recognizable as Sidney Prescott’s home from “SCREAM 3”. Its
dimly lit windows hide behind a mask of trees and shadow.

A phone rings.

INT. SIDNEY PRESCOTT RESIDENCE.

Sitting at her computer is SIDNEY PRESCOTT (42, aging

gracefully. The fear behind her eyes is long gone.) She
answers her phone after a few seconds of ferocious typing and
slight facial movements. She doesn’t check caller ID.

SIDNEY
Hello?

There’s no response.

SIDNEY (CONT’D)
Hello?

A few seconds pass.

VOICE
Sidney, can we talk?

Sidney instantly recognizes the voice.

SIDNEY
About what?

The voice is MARK KINCAID (age, 50).

Sidney stands up and walks towards the couch.

MARK
About what happened.

SIDNEY
I told you. I’m fine. It was just
some sick fuck having a laugh.
Trust me, I’m used to it.

Sidney crosses to the door, checking if the alarm is secure.

She glances out the window. Does she see someone? It’s just a
shadow.

MARK
We’re worried about you... with the
movie, and the fans... I’m worried
about you.
2.

SIDNEY
What am I supposed to do, Mark?
Stop living my life because a few
fans can’t handle the truth? I’m
not scared anymore.

MARK
Sometimes it’s good to be scared.
Sometimes it’s what keeps us
prepared for the worst.

SIDNEY
You can’t prepare for anything
Mark. This is my life. If I keep
living like one more psycho is
around the corner, I’ll never
escape.

MARK
But you were attacked this week.

SIDNEY
And you arrested him, didn’t you?

Sidney sits on the couch, lies back and sighs.

MARK
He’s been released, Sidney. There
was nothing I could do. Fucking
parents...

Sidney isn’t surprised.

SIDNEY
Listen, I appreciate your concern
Mark- but you don’t have to protect
me. I told you, I’m not looking for
a hero.

MARK
I understand. You want me to come
over? Maybe watch a movie...

SIDNEY
(slight smile)
Probably not a good idea. Not
tonight at least, I have an early
morning.

MARK
Whatever you want. I love you.
3.

SIDNEY
Thank you, Mark. I love you too.
Talk soon, okay?

Sidney hangs up the phone, tossing it aside. She closes her

eyes for a moment before the phone rings again. She groans
and answers it.

SIDNEY (CONT’D)
Look Mark, if you really want to
come over you-

VOICE
Hello Sidney.

BEAT.

Sidney looks startled, yet not afraid. It’s the voice that
has haunted her since 1996.

SIDNEY
Who is this.

VOICE
You know, it’s nights like this
That remind me why I like scary
movies.

Sidney looks at her phone, the Caller ID reads “UNKNOWN”.

SIDNEY
If you don’t leave me alone, I’m
calling the police. I’m not playing
your fucking games.

VOICE
This isn’t a game. It’s a horror
movie- and you’re in talks to star.
Again.

Sidney stands up angrily.

SIDNEY
How many of you fucking psychos are
there? Don’t you have anything
better to do? The series is over.
It’s done. Get over it. Leave me
the fuck alone.

Sidney hangs up, and instantly calls Kincaid. He answers

after the first ring.

MARK
Change your mind?
4.

SIDNEY
Mark, He called me again. I think
he’s here.

EXT. SIDNEY PRESCOTT RESIDENCE.

The house remains cast in shadow, hiding any possible figures

from view. The house has never seemed so isolated.

INT. SIDNEY PRESCOTT RESIDENCE.

Sidney pulls a gun out from the kitchen drawer. Her phone
rings. Unknown number. She declines.

She crosses to the door and stares out the window. The porch
outside is barely visible in the dark. She turns on the porch
lights. There’s no one around.

Her phone rings.

SIDNEY
Where are you? The police will be
here any second.

VOICE
They’ll never find me. You know the
rules Sidney, the reveal isn’t
until the final act. This is just
the beginning. The opening scene.

Sidney freezes.

SIDNEY
What are you talking about.

VOICE
You know what I’m talking about
Sidney. Every slasher’s got one.
The final girl. You’ve got quite
the resume, but perhaps it’s time
for a twist. To kill THE Sidney
Prescott. End your saga once and
for all for some cheap shock value.

SIDNEY
That’s what you sick fucks don’t
understand. This isn’t a movie. I’m
not your fucking hero. So why don’t
you skip this bullshit and show
your face you fucking coward.
5.

VOICE
Of course it’s a movie Sidney, but
lucky for you, you have a choice.

SIDNEY
What do you want.

VOICE
The question isn’t what I want. The
question is who I want.

Sidney glances out the window. She can hear the police sirens
and lights coming up the road. Is she safe?

SIDNEY
What do you mean?

VOICE
The way I see it, there’s only two
way to reboot a franchise. Bring
back the fan favorites, or slit
their throats and start new.

SIDNEY
Then where are you? If you want to
kill me where the FUCK are you?

VOICE
I never said you were favorite.

Sidney pauses. The voice chuckles.

VOICE (CONT’D)
You’re the original Sidney, these
days- it’s the reboots that get
slashed. This time, the beginning
is all that matters. You can’t
escape it Sidney, and neither can
Kirby.

BEAT.

Sidney trembles. Police sirens blaring as they pull in front

of the house.

SIDNEY
Leave her alone.

VOICE
I thought you weren’t a hero
Sidney, that’s too bad... she
certainly needs one. Unfortunately,
it sounds like the police are at
the wrong house.
6.

The voice laughs as Sidney hangs up. She runs to the door and
unlocks it, she swings it open and runs DIRECTLY INTO
KINCAID. She screams.

SIDNEY
The killer- he’s gonna kill Kirby.

KINCAID
What!?

SIDNEY
We have to stop him.

EXT. KIRBY’S APARTMENT: NIGHT

The apartment is kind of cheap looking. The soft yellow light

radiating out of the front door. The building is detached
from the rest of the apartments in the area- completely on
it’s own.

INT. KIRBY’S APARTMENT: NIGHT

KIRBY REED (27, randomly long blonde hair) lies in bed with
her laptop, watching a movie. The movie is HALLOWEEN H20.
John Tate is being attacked by Michael Myers.

Kirby seems half asleep as she’s watching, yawning a little

bit.

She hears loud thuds and female groans coming from

downstairs. She rolls her eyes.

KIRBY
(yelling at floor)
Jesus Nancy tone it down. You’re
not fooling anyone.

The moaning starts to fade away as Nancy orgasms. Kirby

sighs. She needs to get a new apartment.

A moment after, Kirby hears a knock at the door. She stands

up confused.

KIRBY (CONT’D)
Who the fuck-

She crosses to the apartment door, and reaches out to the

lock. She pauses suddenly- weirdly feeling uneasy.

She looks out the peep hole.

BEAT.
7.

She SCREAMS! The GHOST stares back at her. He LUNGES forward

and thrashes his blade right through the center of the door-
just missing her eye. She screams and backs away. Panic.
Ghost lunges at the door, starting to break the door off it’s
hinges. Cheap building.

She runs for the bedroom, and glances at the closet. She
considers hiding. NO. She shuffles through her messy room
looking for her phone, before screaming and giving up. She
turns to the window and opens it, stepping out onto the fire
escape.

EXT. KIRBY’S HOUSE: FIRE ESCAPE

Terrified. She starts to climb down the fire escape. She

climbs down one floor. She reaches out to the window and
bangs her right fist.

KIRBY
Nancy please!

She can’t see anything inside the apartment, until there is a

sudden flash of WHITE. CRASH!

The hand smashes through the window. Glass shatters

everywhere. The hand grabs Kirby by the hair, pulling her
forward. She screams, and kicks him away from her. That’s
when she sees inside the apartment.

A woman (Nancy) hangs from the neck , her throat slashed and
her insides spilling out of her stomach. Blood everywhere.
Kirby screams through tears and runs down the fire escape as
fast as she can. She is slowly beginning lower herself down
to the ground when she sees it. THE GHOST.

She screams as he swings his knife into her right ankle. The
blade digs so deep that it pokes out the other side, blood
gushing out of the wound and splashing onto the white mask.

She cries in pain, gripping the fire escape as tightly as

possible. She refuses to give up. The ghost rips the knife
out, and blood gushes. Splattering on the mask. She cries as
she pulls herself up again. She cries as she struggles to
crawl up the ladder without a working foot. That’s when she
sees the SECOND GHOST. TOWERING ABOVE HER, STARING DOWN AT
HER WITH EMPTY SOULLESS EYES.

KIRBY (CONT’D)
PLEASE..

The ghost does not respond. It simply slowly lowers towards

Kirby. Flashing it’s blade as she desperately crawls away.
She isn’t fast enough.
8.

He grabs her by the hair and smashes her against the wall.
Stabbing her instantly in the heart. Her confused and
trembling face pressed up against the mask. She hears the
soulless breathing of the ghost as he twists the knife deeper
and deeper. He tosses her to the fire escape floor.

Shes crying out, but not giving up. She sees the ghost below
her has disappeared- and in his place is the distant shine of
headlights and police sirens.

She tries to scream but no sound comes out. She screams as

the ghost stabs her AGAIN in the back, and turns her over to
look straight down at her. She reaches out to the mask, but
he pushes her away. The blade a vicious and unforgiving as it
raises and falls again and again into her. The music
swelling.

EXT. KIRBY’S APARTMENT: NIGHT

The cars swerve into the front driveway of the apartment.

Sidney instantly gets out of the car, gun ready. Kincaid
follows her. She runs up to the apartment, and through the
doors.

INT. KIRBY’S APARTMENT: NIGHT

Sidney is mortified, she sees the front door broken down off
of its hinges. She steps inside.

SIDNEY
KIRBY1? WHERE ARE YOU? ARE YOU
OKAY?

She runs through the building and to the window where she
sees her. At the top of the fire escape is KIRBY REED- the
fan favorite. Blood gushing from her open wounds. She stares
straight at Sidney- still alive but barely. Sidney rushes
forward, but it’s too late. Kirby falls backwards, losing her
strength entirely- and falls off of the fire escape. Sidney
screams and rushes forward. But it’s too late. Kirby Reed is
dead.
