Carbohydrates: classification, structure, physical, chemical properties and metabolism. Lipids:
classification, structure, fatty acids, properties and metabolism. Proteins: classification, structure,
amino acids, chemical, physical and functional properties. Enzymes: nature, functions,
classification. Vitamins: classification, properties, structure, functions. Biochemical aspects of
micro-nutrients. Introduction to energy units. Calorimeter Measurement for energy production &
expenditure. Energy requirements, balance and regulation.
