a. Thyrotropin Assay (Subnormal or suppressed)
b. FT4 Index (usually elevated)
c. FT3 Index (usually elevated in early phases)
2. Thyrotropin-Receptor Antibodies (TSIs) (positive)
3. Antithyroglobulin Antibodies
4. Antithyroidal Peroxidase anditbodies
5. Liver Function tests
6. CBC with differential
if + assoc with:
1. normocytic anemia
2. low-normal to slightly depressed TWBC
3. relative monocytosis and lymphocytosis
4. low-normal to slightly depressed Platelets

PE
1. Investigation of Gynecomastia
2. Investigation of Opthalmopathies
a. lid retraction
b. proptosis
3. Investigation of Weight loss (+)
4. Skin Characteristics (warm, moist, fine skin)
5. alopecia
6. pretibial myxedema

IMAGING STUDIES
1. Radioactive iodine scanning (uptake is increased, and the uptake is diffusely
distributed over the entire gland.)
2. Ultrasounds with color-Doppler (normoechogenic and large glands are associated
with increased radioresistance.)
3. Computed tomography scanning or magnetic resonance imaging ( increased volume of
extraocular muscles and/or retrobulbar connective tissue.)
